HIIT vs. moderate intense running

So, can moderate intense running (e.g. jogging) for 30 - 40 minutes, be replaced with HIIT;n for about 15 - 20 minutes?
Would the results of jogging be more optimal for fatloss than with HIIT?
Or would it be most “optimal” to add both, HIIT and jogging to your cardio-workouts? (i.e. 50% HIIT, 50% jogging of cardio workouts…)

Thanks again… Heh…

Overall for fat loss I have had better results with 2 25 minutes jogging sessions with a few sprints than I did with HIIT but then again, the jogging was the only thing I did a lot for any appreciable length of time.

I would definitely include both.

The HIIT is great for getting your fat metabolism up for several hours and is rather indispensable if you are cutting. A chisel of sorts.

Straight up cardio however will take the “calories” of like nothing else but its a one time shot. I very rarely do regular cardio because I just want to maintain bodyfat levels right now and if I go up, I can normally diet it off without much of a problem but my friends who aren’t quite as strict on their diet fill holes with it and find it absolutely necessary for them to take the fat off. More of the hammer, just taking lumps off, indiscriminate of muscle/fat (though you can eat and train and manipulate it a bit)

So it comes down to you; how good is your diet and which would you prefer doing? Either one can work, though they are a bit different tools.
