Any guy that clears 3M (floor, not in to sand pit as it’s easier) has a rock solid broad jump. But 3.70M is RIDICULOUS

yeah getting over 3m is really good…but the WR is around 3.65-3.75…by some canadian shotputter…werner gunthor and randy barness were at about 3.60-3.65m…but this guys were tall which helps…it was probably in to a sand pit as they are track athletes

I wonder what shotputters, hammer and discusthrowers jump? I would guess pretty good numbers because they are extremely strong and explosive, anyone got stats?
I wasn’t especially prolific as a shotputter, less technical than athletic I guess. But, at 265 pounds body weight I could dunk two hands off of two legs standing under the basket and jumping out. I was no where near world class in the shotput but at the time was the strongest student athlete at my university. I don’t know what my BF% was but early on in the year I was 12% at 253#. I assume the relative leanness helped my jumping some.
As far as world class throwers I think that jumping abilities for many would be above what I could do.

I googled his reach, reach with an approach, and the math works out to 50". something like spiking reach of 383cm and a reach of 132cm.

A reach of 132? I’m assuming you meant 232, which still seems short. Anway 383-232=151…151cm converted to inches is about 60, something’s wrong with your measurements.

Saw this thread and thought I’d add one. 5’8" has to be 40+ - YouTube
too bad he’s a scam artist… he’s gotten tons of bad feedback about his program, which for many people, they never actually receive.
Seen that vid a few times, and either he’s taller than 5’8" or that rim’s at least 6" low.
Have you seen his hurdle jump video, it’s even more impressive if he’s over 5’8"
That was impressive, but 70" is 5’10". When he pauses standing by the bar you can see the top of his head behind it, which means he’s at least an inch or so taller than the implement, which makes him at least 5’11", not 5’8". I don’t get some people…

no his head is about level with maybe a bit below…he is in shoes which can add 1.5"-2" to height…that 70" jump is incredible…
Keep one thing in mind when assessing how high Spud Webb or Nate Robinson get off the ground when dunking: having to hold onto the ball virtually eliminates their ability to use their arms/shoulders to help launch themselves upward. Their vertical height while dunking is achieved using virtually only their legs.

Nate Robinson’s vert was measured @ 43.5" at the NBA combine, so we can safely assume it was no higher than that. Also, many basketball players when going for dunks in contest do a self lob, allowing them to use they’re arms to jump, as they’re no longer holding onto the ball whilst jumping.
does it count towards your height if you lift you knees at the top of the jump?
cuz in the first video of this thread Kadour Ziani was straight legged but i was looking at vertical jumps on youtube and some basketball player got a 70" jump but he lifted his legs at the top…
