High Rep Deadlifts

i personal love to do one set of 25-30 reps of deadlift and squats once per week because, its alot different from my normal sets of 3-5. i think it is making one tough in another way than just lifting heavy, and i have never experinced any back pain or anything like that, i would even say that it helped back pain to go away and the day after i feel a nice sore in the traps, underarms and hams, so i think it is helping with some hypertrophy too

I’ve been doing this for the past month, to work towards doing double bodyweight for 10 reps. I do higher weights and lower reps one week, low weights with high reps the next. Then take off a little from the higher weight but do more reps, and add more weight and do less reps to the high reps next time. I hope that makes sense. Eventually they meet in the middle at 10 reps. Highest reps I’ve done was 18 with less than 150 kilos.

I feel fine, my back feels fine even though I took two weeks off work in the middle of this, which meant a lot of digging in my garden. Today I did my “regular” heavy triple with more than 220 kg and that felt easier than it did before I started these high reps. I also weigh 3 kg more, though who knows if that’s got anything to do with the deads.

Seems like a good thing to do for a month or two. Maybe not a good thing to do every week for years on end.

If your looking for hypertrophy and you want to use heavy weight for high reps SAFELY try rack pulls and focus on the eccentric portion do a 4/2/1 tempo you smash your low pack, traps, grip strength, and straight arm scapular strength you can also use wrist straps if needed. Try this after squating or any time. Be sure not to do these on deadlift day
