Always feels weird for my wrists

Did them 2 days ago and they lit up my upper back and traps but my wrists/hands definitely took a beating

Doesn’t even hurt. Just feels really awkward. Feel like I’d just be better off throwing the bar.

To the op… I had shoulder repair on my left & right Shoulder. A AC seperation and a type 2 slap tear so I know where you are comming from . Maybe the high pulls are not for you… For what its worth I have pain only when doing these where I try to control the weight on the way down. If you can use a moderate to heavy weight in the 5-8 rep range and be explosive and drop the weight once its up you may get the benifits without the pain. Thats what I do and it works 4 me. Also shrugs, and rack pulls will blast those traps real good after the high pulls.

On a side note developing strength in rear delts and upper back will really take away a good chunk of nagging shoulder pain. I’ve found that the front delts always try to compensate its a shitty imbalance I think that comes from all the pressing work thats so popular but since I’ve devoted my time to corecting that imbalance mucho pain has gone away.

This is one lift that I actually will use straps from beginning to end just because it seems to make them a little bit more comfortable. I hardly ever use straps so it took me a while to come around to the idea but I use them for every set, including warm ups on High Pulls now.

Think I’ve tried straps at least once and felt no difference. I’ll try again win I can though. It’s a cool lift.

I should of noted as well.I use straps and go from the hang, not from blocks.

I’m sure that’s how most people do it lol

I’m not sure what I’m doing different, but these felt real good on my shoulders. tried them last week for the first time after article, and today was third workout with them. Never got into explosive exercises before, due to my background. Here’s the thing, I can’t do OHP, cleans, or upright rows due to a rebuilt shoulder, but I think these just took first place as favorite exercise. After first workout last week, I was wrecked for two days, traps, lats, and rear delts. I started real lite, and took my time ramping up, form felt right. I’ll be putting these in before deadlifts for as long as I’m able. 2cents
