HFT Rest Question

Day one of the HFT routine I will be starting is set up like 1a rest 60s, 1b rest 60s, 1a rest 60s etc

Is everyday the same rest periods? Or are the rest of the days super sets for example 1a-1b rest 60s 1a-1b rest etc

I found a few diffrent HFT routines on this site so this is a “in general” questions.

If it says rest 60 seconds, usually it means after each exercise. Waterbury in particular seems to advocate this method, as without enough rest you don’t get proper recruitment. Proper rest being about 90 seconds total, including time spent on the other exercise as long as it isn’t too similar.

Thanks

I was just unsure because it only had it written like that for day one. The rest of the days were written rest 60s and thats it.

Yeah, just remember a “superset” isn’t necessarily immediate. A1…A2 denotes a superset. A1…A2…A3 denotes a circuit. Regardless, rest periods should be specified seperately, because NO rest is generally just good for metabolic work.

With big circuits you can get away with less rest if the exercises are dissimilar

Like this:

A1 Back squat rest 30s
A2 Dip rest 30s
A3 Jump shrug rest 30s
A4 Chinup rest 30s

That would give your body a full body metabolic challenge without compromising your neural recovery between sets.
