Helpful Tips That Make Life Easier

You’re more of a Commie than I am - redistributing your wealth to your needy sister like that.

ATTENTION T-Nation: Andrew is the commie! He was projecting! LOL, you commie bastard.

On the serious tip, bro: Your sister is addicted to her struggle. She gets a charge from the emotional highs and lows of creating drama and getting “saved”. You are enabling the behavior. YOU get a secondary payoff by “saving” her (it feels good in a “self-righteous, self sacrificing” kind of way, doesn’t it?). It is a vicious, dysfunctional, insidious cycle. YOU are taking responsibility for HER bad decisions. She will continue to make bad decisions until she runs into a consequence and is forced to change.

Your current strategy for dealing with this is actually hurting BOTH of you, and you don’t realize it. Now I’m not saying go home and kick her out. But a plan of action with a TIMETABLE would be an idea I would invite you to consider.

But what do I know? I’m just some asshole on the interwebz…

While I’m on topic, this reminds me of another “tip”.

There are no “little things” in life. EVERY action has a consequence. These consequences are cumulative. They form a trend. They turn into habits… Ten small things equal one big thing… but you never address it or know it’s full ramification because it’s “just a little thing”, right?

For want of a nail, the shoe was lost
For want of shoe, the horse was lost
For want of horse, the message was lost
For want of message, the battle was lost
For want of a battle, the war was lost
For want of a war, the kingdom was lost… BECAUSE OF A NAIL

Seize advantage at every opportunity. Never yield unless it is part of a strategy. Fuck being a “nice guy”. We are all the sum of our decisions. Luck is where opportunity meets with preparation. The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in battle.

This relates to Andrew’s situation because the resources he is diverting to his sister, COULD be paying off his debts, or preventing him from going into debt, avoiding high interest rates, freeing up more money for him to save, allowing that interest to compound… fast forward 20 years and he is losing THOUSANDS of dollars (or more) of potential assets because of his actions today.

Get some altitude and really SEE how your actions today will affect your future. The little things add up, believe me.

While we are on the topic of assets, it is my opinion that TIME is your most valuable asset. You can always earn more money… But if you squander your time with mindless entertainment (TV, video games, etc…) you are doing yourself a disservice, IMHO… You’ll never realize your potential unless you consciously EVOLVE. That’s how I spend most of my free time. Of course I do other shit too, but I try to maintain an even ratio of learning/evolution to fuckoff/free time/chasing pussy/etc…

Working out counts towards this ratio, but there are many arenas in which one can evolve (physical, emotional, mental, financial, spiritual, social, education, strategy, meditation, etc…) You can’t hit them all at once, but we all know about periodizition with our workouts, right? Apply it to life…

This reminds me of the book Sway

Ori and Rom Brafman

Don’t piss into the wind.

The perfect omelet is 3 eggs.

A dollar today is always worth more than a dollar tomorrow.

Invest early, seriously, I can’t stress this enough. I see people trying to “catch up” for retirement every day to what would have only taken small steps of preparation earlier in their life. AC is right, the power of compounding is where it’s at.

Educate your lazy ass. No one wants to do it- especially when you’re young, and it doesn’t mean going out and getting a damn Ph.D. It’s far from cool to be stupid. Knowledge is power and chicks dig it too. An extra year of some sort of education in your 20’s is going to pay dividends later down the road. If you can, specialize in something.

Following education, read. Stimulates your goddamn mind. More so than badjojo.com

Go to badjojo.com, you’re welcome.

Go see as much of everything out there you can. What do you thinks gonna be a better story, telling your grandkids how you pwnd some 12 yr old at Halo in your cheeto covered nerd dungeon, or the time you climbed machu picchu?

Chick face down on stomach, your thumb in her snatch, press down. Easy peasy.

Put yourself in other peoples shoes. It’ll make life much easier if you think shit over and you’ll be much more apt to realize you’re wrong when you are. Real men understand if they’re wrong. Apologize, correct it and move on.

Diversify. Women, stocks, clothing, cars, jobs, sex positions, apartments, you get the idea.

I saved this after I read it on a thread here.

i will jerk you off for posting this.

I also agree with Angry Chicken about checking your statements. I did check mine but wasn’t paying attention and it was 9 months later that I realized my old gym was still taking out $32.00 a month. I couldn’t get the money back and that was almost $400.00 and it was a hassle to cancel my membership. I called my bank and had them stop the automatic deductions and the gym hit my credit report with past due notices. It was a huge freaking mess. Gyms are like the mob when it comes to paying your dues.

Kay I’m calm now.

But in all seriousness I did used to enjoy saving my sister. I was young, had almost no bills and was making great money. I blew my money on Bullshit and loved it! Thats the problem tho, the trend started back when money wasnt a problem for me. However when I matured and started looking into buying a house and stabilizing my future and helping her time and time again, saving her no longer appealed to me. I have made a shit load of sacrifices to get where I am today, and to watch the person I am closest with spiral down in desparation after poor decision followed by poor decision is more than frustrating. So no I don’t enjoy saving her anymore. If I could go back and do things different I would, but my situation is now that my sister has been thru hell and back and needs me more than ever and now would be the hardest time for me to implement tough love. I really should’ve done it years ago, but like I said I was livin the dream then and didn’t realize what I was creating. I now realize what I’ve done and am trying to find ways to make her more independant, but right now, her husband just left her, she’s broke, she’s depressed, she even stopped going to church, and for me to drop her now and watch the person I care about most spiral even furthur into the pit that she dug herself is a job for someone much stronger than I am.

I believe there is a time for everything, I don’t think now is the time to drop her. Maybe help her realize the decisions she made is what got her where she is, but not cut her off. I dunno, maybe I’m wrong

THINGS I LEARNED FROM MY DOG

  1. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

  2. Allow the experience of fresh air and wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

  3. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

  4. When itâ??s in your best interest, practice obedience.

  5. Let others know when they have invaded your territory.

  6. Take naps and stretch before rising.

  7. Run, romp and play daily.

  8. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

  9. Be loyal.

  10. Never pretend to be something you are not.

  11. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

  12. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close and nuzzle them gently.

  13. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

  14. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

  15. On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shade tree.

  16. When youâ??re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

  17. No matter how often you are scolded, donâ??t buy into the guilt thing and pout, . . . . run right back and make friends.

  18. Bond with your pack.

  19. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

  20. Long after you are gone, remain a memory in your master’s dreams.

lol seriously–there just isn’t a worse guy to have quoted with a message like that. Probably should have done a background check.

BTW great stuff in this thread. It’s stuff like this [and surprisingly enough, some of the threads HH has started on careers and school] that make this site more than just a lifting board.

woah woah woah, he was murdered but that doesn’t make the message bad.

consider this quote

Women are nothing but machines for producing children.
Napoleon Bonaparte

not a fan of the quote but a pretty impressive resume.
