Help Wanted...Getting Back Into It

I go on gym binges for sometimes a year at a time, unfortunately Im on my off time right now and am finding it hard to get back on the right track with eating and finding a steady gym schedule along with energy…any suggestions?

Start out lightly. It will come back. I had a two year absence, within four weeks it felt like I was at home again.

I’m just getting back to working out after a 6 week break (surgery). My diet really went downhill fast, but I find once I’m working out, it’s easier to stick to good food choices since I don’t want to “waste” my hard work in the gym.

Also, I’ve realized that if I don’t get my workout done first thing in the morning, it often gets pushed aside later in the day, so starting this week I am getting up an hour earlier and working out in the basement before my kids wake up.

I suggest start to slowly make changes, and when those feel easy and natural, implement a few more. That way you don’t get overwhelmed and decide “screw it!” and give up. Baby steps will get you there. Good luck!

I agree with Jilly’s last paragraph. Baby steps are key. Bring the muscles back into the swing of things slowly. Doing that will help prevent injury and leave you hungry for the next work out rather than dreading it.

Jilly, why not get the kids up with you and make them spot for mommy!

Because they’re only 5 and 2! Once they’re up, my time is no longer my own…
