Ever since I got on a good, clean diet with high proteins (whey is Biotest), lots of fruits and veggies, fish oil, and lower carbs–I have had the most rancid and frequent farts. I can accept fish burps because only I taste them, but my farts have gotten to the embarrassing point.
Also, I seem to be getting more zits than usual. I’ve always been a pretty clear faced guy, but it seems to have definitely increased since I’ve altered my diet.
Is this something that will go away with time, or can I adjust some things, or do I just have to accept it for the gains?
My farts are because of the amount of grain-carbs I’m taking in. I know this because once a week I have a mega-low carb day where I only have 50g and from fruits/beef jerky (sugar). And I don’t have any gas.
My acne I think (I’m not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV) is because my hormones are alot more active becuase of my training…it comes in waves, on my face and shoulders.
Can’t honestly suggest anything for the acne other than drinking more water. At a gallon a day (eight tall glasses spread out over the course of the day) your acne will be noticeably clearer, maybe gone.
About the farting: in most drugstores, and all health food stores, you’ll find an enzymatic supplement called “Beano.” Get it in liquid form, squeeze a few drops into a glass of water, and drink it down before eating beans, salads, and meals containing lots of vegetables (broccili and cabbage especially). It’ll work wonders with your digestion and farting.
i’d start with a fiber supplement- citracel is the best if gas is ur problem. also you might be lactose intolerant- try lactaid with cheese. in addition, some people have issues with the sorbitol in fruit (its the same undigestable sugar in beer that gives u beer shits). google sorbitol to see how to avoid it.
if cutting out lactose and sorbitol don’t help you, then you probably have a little more interesting/abnormal case. google fructose malabsorption.
i don’t think you have problems with gluten because you said its a new problem. a lot of ibs sites hate gluten but i think its irrational.
one last thing- remember to avoid the common sense things. like beans/broccolli/onions. its a shame some of the healthiest foods can lead to the most embarassing situations.
if you eat plenty of fruits and veggies (2+ lbs a day) then your fiber intake should be more than sufficient along with 3+ liters of water drinking
my guesses would be
aggravating food sensitivites, get a decent IgG allergy test (talk to your doctor)
if your diet was shit before your body may be going through a detox period clearing out all the garbage that was stuck in your liver, GI tract and other elimination pathways, if you check on acne.org lots of people report increased skin issues when doing significant dietary changes, i myself experienced this as well over a year ago when i completely changed my diet around (such as severely limiting grains and starches)

Let me know if you have a pill to fix it! (both)[/quote]
the hormone excuse by dermatologists is just something to convince you to take the prescribed antibiotics/cleansers/topicals/whatever that they “recommend” which almost always cause more issues, are detrimental to your GI health in the long run and the symptoms (crappy skin health) come back as soon as you stop them
is it “hormones” ? technically it is because DHT from testosterone is causing inflammation everywhere including your skin (and scalp which can lead to hair loss), but this inflammatory response and how chronic it is is largely determined by your diet and lifestyle, i train hard and sweat very easily but since drastically changing my diet over a year ago have no more breakouts from internal issues
the only way i breakout anymore is from letting sweat sit on my face for several hours or rain/snow/precipitation (yes i know but rain/snow around here is acidic below pH 6)
it’s the connection between inflammation and lifestyle that dermatologists always want to deny
there is no pill, if you fix your lifestyle and diet and keep your GI tract happy then your skin will be clear as well
Horrid farts are fun; sometimes…but when it lasts for 4-6hrs of your 8-9hr day at work…it gets bothersome. I work at an engineering firm where I am constantly talking with the higher tier guys and in no way to I want to bust ass all over our conversation.
I think I drink on average 3-5L a day; but it’s probably due to stress (the acne).
It’s totally the carbs fault. I know it. If I was cutting I’d be fine…BUT i’m bulking and eating 250-400g a day depending on the day.
I’m just lucky that I got a girl who still laughs her ass off when I fart. lol, whew!

I’ve tried bean-o; doesn’t work.
I drink lactaid only

I had a job working overnight at a department store once. One day I ate junk carbs all day, then showed up for work. Guys were holding their noses all night. I wonder if they knew it was me…
I feel your pain. I lived with girls at school last year and did a velocity diet. My farts were so awful I had to throw my desk chair in the garbage because it was smelling up the apartment and my chick roommates were getting suspicious.
With the fish burps, try freezing your fish oil pills.
