I just had to post this. I had a lurker approach me today. For those who haven’t seen my more recent posts, I’m no longer a raging bitch. So, I had to watch my response…stop, think, speak. He asked me for help and my weight. For starters I don’t really think it’s appropriate for a guy to ask what your weight is when they don’t even know you…but I told him around 125 and he said, “damn that’s how much I weigh and I’m over 6 ft 1.” Instead of telling him “my advice” I just listened. I realize you have to have grit but also be part of humanity. I’m spending my energy on myself and not on others to help overcome my ptsd. so I bit my lip and told him good luck and “eat big to lift big, and I only had a little more time before I had to leave.”
So, I’m humbling asking with your grip article, am I cheating since I’d been using gloves? Ive been practicing your tips and did farmers walks and lifted without gloves…and hands a wee bit tender. Is it beneficial to lift without gloves examples would be awesome which I know you always explain things from all angles which we all appreciate.
Also, gulp…I’m sleeping more have less anxiety…so I’m thinking I don’t need to do as much cardio but would like to incorporate some. My butt and legs are more massive now than upper body so I’m wondering if I should continue my 3 day full body workouts…how can I catch my upper body with my quads, Hammies, calves and glutes? I have quit cycling as of the last time I posted. Thanks so much and no rush getting back I know you’re super busy. Appreciate any advice on anything. I’m transforming my life and not just my body.
Why would it not be okay to wear gloves? I mean, sure you have the “hardcore bros” that will say that gloves are for the weak and that you should embrace calluses", personally I don’t care. If you lift better with gloves, wear them. There is no added benefit to lifting without them besides making your skin tougher and becoming more desensitized to pain while holding weights. But besides that, there is zero issues with using them.
The goal is to lift/carry more weight or do more reps with the same weight. If gloves have no negative impact on lifting performance they are fine to use. They don’t look manly, but you’re a girl so that’s not a worry
Well, do you like using a whole body approach? Because if you like that type of training I would stick with it. But there is a way to slant a whole body session to be more upper body dominant. Of if you really want your upper body to catch up why not do:
DAY 1 - Whole body
DAY 2- Upper body
DAY 3 - Whole body
Oh, thank goodness, I misperceived your article regarding grip. It happens.
Actually I’ve become accustomed to the full body. Its not like I “really” need to gain or lose weight. I used to do split but is harder for me to get rides to gym. My hubby doesn’t lifT and I have to bum rides. Due to my health, I can’t drive. Was thinking I might enhance home gym so I could do split routines cuz hard to oordinate lifting days. I could do the one more slant, too. I have a lot of friends in my neighborhood that don’t mind spotting. I do like the strength in my legs and not sure if only want to hit once a week. Now I sound like a beginner wanting help. Haha. I love my lower body and still have guns but I’m just able to pile on the poundage on the squat bar etc. I had to build my ass from flat board. Thanks so much.
