I woke up today and could barely walk. My right hip is in severe pain. It got better throughout the day somewhat but now is worse. Yesterday I squatted with chains at 60% RM. I had not squatted in over a week and a half but did not feel like I was overdoing it. I had no pain last night and felt fine. Today is a different story. It is the side of my hip, not the bone, possibly the ligaments and muscle. I can hardly walk and I can’t put my right foot onto my left knee sitting down without experiencing severe pain. Any advice is appreciated. I go on vacation to San Diego on Saturday. I hope I am better by then so I can run around on the beach.
I would say ART, but probably you don’t have the time. Stretch, ice, and ibuprofen are your best bet. I would also take a break from the gym. Hope everything goes well.
Talk to a doctor ASAP. Hopefully your insurance company allows you to speak to a specialist without seeing a general family physician since g.f.p.s don’t know what they’re doing most of times. And make sure your specialist is a good one cuz there’s a world of difference between a good one and a so-so one.
Just noticed that my right hip protrudes out about 1 or 2 inches more than my left. Could be the joint? Still in pain.
Get to a doctor that specializes in sports medicine. Do it as soon as you can schedule an appointment.
Explosively or just normal tempos?
I’ve sprained my back twice now doing squats at a concentric speed that was more than I could stabilize. That I’ve done it twice doesn’t say much for me learning things.
Thanks for the advice everyone. Just got 10 hours of sleep thanks to my wife letting me sleep in. My hip is almost pain free, probably 75%. So far haven’t taken anything for it. I think to be safe I’ll wait a week to train legs and will go very light.
I had a similar experience last week after an intense legworkout. My calves and hips were very sore and I was literally limping around. It took me around 5 days to fully recover and I feel fine now. I think the reason was that I put on to much weight on the calf raises and the squat. I’m new to bodybuilding so I dunno if it is normal to feel pain in the start. Besides the aching is it unhealthy to push yourself to the max now and then? I had a great feeling doing the lifts…
