I like to run 100m sprints as part of my conditioning and until recently i had a nice big grassy park to use my spikes in. However I’ve just started a job in London and due to the Olympics and lack of open grassy space I’m going to have to do my sprints on harder surfaces like concrete. Can anyone recommend any TRAINERS or SPIKELESS RACING SHOES which are specifically designed for short-distance sprints as opposed to cross-country?
I thought about some vibrams five fingers, as I feel I’ve built up the ball-strike technique nicely but I’m worried about the impact of the concrete. Alternatively I’ve looked at a fair amount of Brooks (but these seem to be more for XC), asics and nike lunar spider types.
I love my Saucony Hattori AW and regular, but I do not sprint that often or run on concrete, which is the worst surface to run on btw.
The Nike Lunar Spiders or the Asics Piranhas, both awesome, both on running warehouse.
a pair of racing flats should do.
Go to “Run and Become”, all the staff are serious runners and super knowledgeable and will analyse your gait for free
don’t sprint on concrete , it will fxxxx you up in short order. Find tarmac as a last resort.

I use to sprint on tarmac during the winter when the ground was wet and I couldn’t get to the track. I managed, however I was rather light at that point and was younger. If you’re a typical bloke you will probably kill your joints. Concrete = destroyed joints.
