Hi everyone. I am a 37 years old female, 5 ft 9 and 228lbs. I am currently undergoing physical therapy and rehab for knee problems, so I am unable to weight train heavy or do the aerobic activities like running and skipping rope as I used to. These activities really helped me to loose weight in the past and keep it off.
Over the past 2 years I have gained about 50lbs and feel like I am at an all time low now.
I really need help. I continue to do(light) weight training - straight leg deadlifts, leg extensions/curls/abdcutors/adductors with no weight, and the recumbent bike for 15 mins each session. I have just started to swim and take bikram yoga classes again to increase my strength and flexibility.
Now I would really like to lay out a diet that I could follow along with my workout plan to help me reach my long term goal of 175lbs. I know that is a big goal, and I understand that I must exercise great patience in acheiving this goal. Can anyone out there please suggest a diet plan for me?
I have done well on lower carb higher protein diets in the past, and am very good about taking supplements and good fat oils - borage, cod liver, flax seed, evening primrose, pumpkin seed oil, etc. - if that helps. I would so greatly appreciate anything you have to offer at this point. Thank you.
It’s going to be all about eating well and staying active.
If you haven’t, get rid of all the unhealthy convenience foods. Track your eating, keep a food log, so you know exactly what you are eating and how much.
Based on your post it’s hard to know what you know, but make sure you find the beginner threads and read up on the various diet suggestions they contain.
If you can get rid of PROCESSED carbs, which of course lets you eat lots of vegetables, you’ll feel full longer and probably be able to eat less calories.
One big trick is to actually eat enough good food that you don’t end up getting hungry and getting sidetracked by a craving. I don’t know about your situation, but some women starve themselves as long as possible, then are literally forced to eat and chow down shit like donuts or chips.
If you do that, skip the starving and replacing it with healthy protein containing snacks.
Anyway, if it wasn’t just my speedy reading having me miss it (it was a longer post), after reading the stuff about eating that I mentioned, post your dietary habits… what you really do… and people will quickly point out the faults.
We’re really good at pointing out faults around here…
Great advice from Vroom. There are a lot of great nutrition articles at www.f-heit.com that you might want to check out. Here are a few to get you started:
You can also spend some time reading thru John Berardi and Lonnie Lowery’s articles here. And there are also some good articles linked to in the “T-Vixen Articles” thread at the top of the Sorority forum. Welcome and good luck!
