No. Especially not if it is a dual program. Or whatever the hell that is called.[/quote]

Dual program like you get your DPT and then go straight into your PhD? Never heard of those programs personally. Didn’t know they were out there. But heck, there are not many PhD PT programs in the midwest.

I can’t see the purpose of the PhD unless you are wanting to teach or do research. Are you interested in that? I must say, research was by far the worst part of the whole DPT program.

Research is the worst part of everything. That was my least favorite part of my exercise science classes and then my graduate physiology classes. Every class was just sitting around and talking theoretics about things that might work and how we can test them in a controlled enviroment. Meanwhile, I am sitting in the back of class, ripping my desk in half, and thinking about how to apply everything we were talking about to making my squat better.

Alright. 20 weeks until raw nationals. Still recovernig from surgery but I don’t care about that anymore. Here is my tentative training program for the next two weeks:

-2 days a week light sled dragging (either upon waking or after training)

-2 days a week HIIT (either upon waking or after training)

-2 Light Bench Sessions

-2 Light Sq/DL Sessions

-1 Extra Bench Workout

-1 Extra Sq/DL Workout

Also, for the next month, I want to try to hit these totals throughout each week:

500 Tri Extensions

500 Hamstring Curls

500 Short Strap Reverse Hypers

500 of some ab work variation

Everyday:

Foam Roll upon waking

Static Stretch before bed

Some goals for the meet:

700lb raw squat

820lb raw deadlift

bench… whos gives a shit.

Weigh in under 265

I’ll post some more specific stuff about diet later. I probably won’t get hard core into that until about 15 weeks out.

That sounds like some hardcore cutting of water/fat. Weren’t you really far up there in bodyweight? (around 300-ish?) Exactly many gallons of soy sauce do you plan on consuming after weighing in?

Storm, I have a question for you. After I compete again in May, I’m going to start my training for the Army. Since the Army doesn’t give a shit about how much I can lift, would you recommend that I follow a 5/3/1 program with light assistance and heavy conditioning, or would you recommend Westside For Skinny Bastards because of its emphasis on athleticism?

Whatever way you can implement volume. That is all you will do at basic. They can find anything stupid and make it hard when you have to do it for a half hour.

My advice is have healthy hips and shoulders when you get there. You will be hard on both. During “corrective training” you will find yourself going from a classroom to doing 100 8 count push ups. No warm up.

So just prepare for a stupid amount of volume. I will leave the technical part to someone more intelligent than myself.

It’s not that nuts. I dropped 51lbs in 15 weeks a couple years ago and still pulled 760 @ 229. I have been recently right around 285-290.

Soy sauce? Do people actually do that? I prefer a gallon mix of water, gatorade, and pedialite with a shit load of salt.

This is good advice. I would strongly suggest continueing your strength training and altering your assistance work into more bodyweight oriented stuff. Also, condition a lot. Sprints, sleds, crossfit workouts, barbell complexes, whatever. Just do something awesome every fucking day.

From my understanding, you can be in peak physical condition and still get your ass handed to you. Mental conditioning is probably going to be your biggest ally. Find some books on meditation or some shit.

It was pretty close. I am seriously never doing that again. If it comes down to it, I will demand to be knocked out.

Yea, I actually watched the doc dig the most anterior one out. It freaked me the fuck out but it was pretty cool watching him pull a little alien brain looking growth out of my ribs.
