trying to figure out my next order from elitefts. I’ve heard a lot about the captains of crushers. has anyone used or heard much about the heavy duty grips they sell? not sure which to go with. I’m new to grip training
both will train your grip.
captains of grip are the gold standard.
heavy duty grippers are cheaper and not of as consistent a quality.
if I recall the captains of crushers start at 140 .lbs. and I thought the heavy duty grips started under 100 .lbs. since I’m new to grip training. I wonder if the captains of crushers would be to hard to start out with. wonder if buying the heavy duty now would make more sense and work my way up to 140 .lb level 1 captains of crushers. wouldn’t make much sense to me to buy the level 1 now and not be able to yse it. what do you guys think?
Heavy Duty grips are easier. They are slightly smaller and have less resistance at the start. If you have small hands, they are probably a better bet.
For comparison, the CoC No. 2 is about halfway between the Heavy Grips 250 and 300. I cannot close the 300 or the CoC No. 3, but can comfortably rep the 250 and get a couple of reps with the No. 2. I have slightly larger than normal hands, but not really big ones.

The captains of crush are available in resistances less than the #1, they’re called the sport, trainer and guide, I believe. Not sure of the poundages though. Those would be an option if you don’t feel like jumping right up to the #1, but want the quality of the captains of crush.
Heavy duty grippers also season heavily (i.e. get weaker than their starting resistance), quality is not the best. I’d go for the COC.
Get the Trainer then the #1. Possibly with the Guide for warm ups.
I have a full set of CoC grippers and I love them(currently working on the #3). I would stick with these as like previously mentioned, they are the standard for grippers and are very good quality.
