I had an inguinal hernia repaired a week ago with a tension-free procedure using the Prolene mesh. The first few days were downright miserable, but I am far more functional now 7 days later and am getting more focused on aiding the healing process. From what I can glean from internet research, the key to properly healing post-operatively is for tissue to grow into and encompass the mesh that was place above and below the muscle wall defect. ‘They’ say that the process of complete incorporation takes about 3 months.
I am not in a huge hurry to return to my normal level of activity. However, I am in a hurry to support and boost my body’s healing capabilities to ensure long-term success. I am 30 now, so I am sure a little extra attention to the healing process will be beneficial since my body no longer acts like it did as a teenager.
I’ve upped my protein intake a bit and am taking Biotest’s BCAA’s with 3 of my meals a day. I also upped my greens intake. I currently take several green products like ‘Perfect Food’, ‘Green Vibrance’, and ‘Emerald Balance’. This is in addition to my normal fruit/veggie intake that includes things like apples, broccoli sprouts, grean beans, tomatoes, bananas, blueberries, spinach and a few others. I have maintaned my normal amounts of EFA supplementation.
Any ideas and advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
