How do you guys keep your headphones on while lifting? I was overhead pressing today and the cord kept getting in the way and they kept falling out of my ears. Id really like to lift with music after a Taylor Swift song came on in the middle of squatting. Nothing kills your motivation like “Love Story” over the loud speakers.
Whats the obvious trick I am missing?
all i can think of is that i put my headphones cord under my shirt… also if the cord is a bit long i let the slack hang at the bottom of the shirt rather than the top… there’s basically no way I could possibly get tangled in my headphones.
I guess just try to reduce slack in the cord as much as possible… if you need to just tuck some of the “leftover” cord in to whatever is holding your mp3 player?
you could always wrap the cord around the back of your head and let it run down your back for front movements … you could run it through your shirt like jacheson said … you could invest in a better pair of ear buds or you could always just bring in your own personal boom box and be the Fresh Prince of your Gym …

get an ipod shuffle, put the cord under your shirt and clip it to your shorts, back or front depending what youre lifting

also get a good in-ear headset with various sizes of bud attachments.

If you have an iPhone or Blackberry or anything with bluetooth, there’s no excuse to use headphones with cords. I’ve even left my phone in other rooms for entire sets, not remembering until I got really far away and the signal started fading.
Haven’t looked back since buying. Especially helpful on the treadmill.

I got Bluetooth headphones (Motorola Rokr S9 HD) and I will break down and cry when they finally die.
One of the songs I was listening to at the gym the other day had a real quiet part at the end, so I could hear what the gym speakers were playing. I think it was Madonna. Then my Rage Against the Machine kicked in and I was good to go.

I wear my ipod on my arm and wrap the excess cord around it. In the gym headset style headphones are the only way to go, ear buds suck.

“Push Me Pull Me” is a Pearl Jam song. A rather insignificant one tacked on at the end of one of their albums, I think [can’t remember which one right now]. But it’s clever since this is a lifting site.
