I thought I would take a moment to let some people in on a little known fact that I recently learned. A lot of posted questions on this site can be answered right here right now. Now as a disclaimer, this is not intended to cure or eliminate any condition that may need medical attention. When in doubt, get it checked out.
Many lifters are complaining of tension headaches while lifting. Here is the problem…You are over activating the Traps. You are tensing your shoulders while lifting. Try and concentrate on relaxing your traps while lifting, I bet you will notice a great differnce. Over active traps will cause a very painfull headaches that radiates up the back of the neck into the skull. Try and touch your chin to your chest and stretch this muscle. You will feel relief.
Again this is not medical advise, just a lesson I am passing on. Good luck!!!
Everyone knows this? or just dont care?
im picking the latter, not to mention is dumb advice. the headach is from incresed bloodflow, and not breathing properly.

I am sorry that narrow mindness limits you to believe only one reasoning. Yes you are correct in one idea, blood pressure and breathing are one factor. My reasoning is not a stand alone idea. I am also sorry if I mislead you into thinking I was saying this is the answer for all. However, it is proven that overactive/over tightened Traps can/will cause a headache in the base of the skull due to pulling of the muscles. When a lot of people lift, they tend to activate the traps. The deeper muscle fibers then begin to fire at all times not allowing them to relax. Thus causing a muscle soreness and headaches radiating up the neck and sometimes into the eyes.
As for touching your chin to your chest for the stretch: This was not intended to be doen while you are lifting, rather as a stretch to assist the traps to relax. Also, apply ice to the area after the stretching. If this is still not clear to some, I would try and explain further. Otherwise I would contact a local PT and see if he concurs.
