For a yoke I just use chains to hang weights off of my barbell. It’s actually a lot harder than using a real yoke because the weights start swinging while you walk.
Yea I thought about that. Andy Deck uses a chain yoke all the time I know. I just wasn’t sure how well it mapped over to a static yoke in a contest.
As far as direct carry over is concerned, training with a chain yoke may not help you achieve optimal technique in the static yoke event; however, if you can walk a given distance with a given weight using chains it would make sense that you could walk that same distance or further with the same weight using a static yoke because the chains are much more difficult due to the instability. Hmm. Yea it might be time for me to give these a try.
Alright it’s been like a year since I’ve done decline bench, and it felt like shit lol. It actually felt weaker than flat bench, although it used to feel way stronger. Whatever, this exercise is dumb, and it’ll probably be another year before I do it again.
I might attempt to make one. It doesn’t look that tricky.
Oh shit dude, yea. You could make that Husafell stone easy. I’d love to get a yoke somehow. You have to drop some dough for one of those things though, no real way around that I don’t think.
I tried it this weekend,

I didn’t get enough cement, but all in all it was real easy. Took about an hour I’d guess.
The yoke is definitely a big ticket item I wouldn’t want to skimp on. I’ve seen the a chain yoke and even one made out of a pipe and barrels, but like you said I’m not sure how that would translate in a competition.

How did you keep the sides of the mold together? It seems like the weight of the cement would push them apart.

Well… I used Gorilla wood glue to hold the sides down, but I haven’t checked on it since last night when I poured it so it might not of held. I’ll check it in about 20 minutes on my lunch break.
I have this nasty habit of jumping head first into things with really thinking them through…
More than anything this has been a learning experience. I don’t think this stone will be any heavier than 200 so I plan on making a couple more.
Deadlift:
135 5x
225 5x
315 3x
405 2x
455 1x
495 1x
550 0x Well that’s depressing. I really thought I had it.
550 0x
405 5x
405 5x
405 5x just tinkering
I will try it again in a week or two with the patented Benni Magnusson roll technique. I set my rep PR’s doing that, and I think it gets me in a little better starting position. If I can’t get it then though, then I will not attempt it again for quite some time. I’m going to work on pulling the bar higher before my back rounds. I can’t hardly even get down to the bar without rounding my low back though. I need to improve hamstring flexibility.
If that Mariusz hitch wasn’t followed by a stumble, that rep would have completed. I don’t say this ever, but you are one of my favorite deadlifters, and not just amateur. Your pulls can be compared to the phenomenon of killer whales dive bombing out of the sea with a baby seal in their mouth, or an asteroid impact similar to the one that extinguished the dinosaurs.

Ahahahaha! Alright that cheered me up quite a bit.
