He Insists You Are Hector Reborn. Or Was It Hercules?

Got this cookin on my back porch as of last Sunday. I’ll try to get an accurate weight once it’s out, but by my estimates it should be in the neighborhood of 330lbs…

It’s still in the mold? You can take it out of the mold within 8-10 hours of it being poured granted the right weather (it’s summer heh). I hope it’s not too difficult to pry that bitch out!

Was the jerking into the bar and having slack just because youre pissed?

Nice daaag! I deadlifted over 100 bricks today total tonnage over 1000 pounds wooo woot

Na, I can just pull a lot more that way.

Damn that looks insanely painful.

Yea that’s what everyone says lol. I dunno, that’s how I’ve always done it. I’ve tried the getting really tight and pulling the slack out and kinda just breaking it off the floor, but for me that hurt a lot more and was a lot weaker. I wouldn’t tell anyone to deadlift like I do though.

I deadlift like that although not to the same extent you do. Grip it and rip it has always worked better for me than being technical. I presume that at some point I will have to focus more on form but getting pissed off and just jerking on it always helps keep me psyched up. It’s hard to be aggressive when you’re calculating your technique constantly.

If this doesn’t make sense it’s because I’m drunk and my baby keeps hitting the keyboard…

yeah i pull the “wrong” way when i pull conventional too. i just can’t get into a good position when i try to get behind the bar. Jerking the shit out of it lets me lift moar…

I’m glad I’m not the only one who posts drunk
That stone press is one of the most badass lifts I’ve ever seen

Is that a slater stone mold?

I’m torn between buying the slater mold or the Hybrid molds Rogue sells.

Oh I’m sure the Rogue molds would work just as well. They didn’t sell one big enough for what I wanted though. That Slater mold is a 20"

Nice!

I’ve never even seen one irl so I’m just taking a shot in the dark on sizes. I’m all about strongman right now for some weird reason. I’ve been eyeballin the Rogue Y-1 Yoke lately. That and making some stones and farmer walk handles.

I might attempt to make one. It doesn’t look that tricky.

Oh shit dude, yea. You could make that Husafell stone easy. I’d love to get a yoke somehow. You have to drop some dough for one of those things though, no real way around that I don’t think.

For a yoke I just use chains to hang weights off of my barbell. It’s actually a lot harder than using a real yoke because the weights start swinging while you walk.

Yea I thought about that. Andy Deck uses a chain yoke all the time I know. I just wasn’t sure how well it mapped over to a static yoke in a contest.

3" Deficit Deadlifts:
495 1x PR I guess lol. It has been a long time since I’ve done any deficits.
405 5x

I would be money that whatever weight I can pull from the floor, I can pull from pretty much any deficit. It doesn’t matter where the weight starts, the only hard part for me is the last few inches.

Pullups:
BW 10x
+25lbs 5x
+50lbs 5x
+75lbs 5x
+100lbs 4x
+50lbs 10x

Pulldown Machine:

BW Rows: (holding straps w/ feet up on a box)
4 sets of 10

EZ Bar Curls: First time trying anything supinated w/ my left arm in a while.
70lbs 10x This was intensely painful on that left bicep. In fact when I first attempted the first rep I dropped it lol.
70lbs 10x little better
70lbs 10x little better
70lbs 15x felt like nothing

It’s amazing what 8 seconds of mobility work will do. I was over on the decline bench and I was just forcing my left arm back and out to the side through extended ranges of motion. It really helped loosen up my shoulder and take the pressure off that bicep tendon. Then curls suddenly became easy again.

Decline Bench Situps:
4 sets of 20

As far as direct carry over is concerned, training with a chain yoke may not help you achieve optimal technique in the static yoke event; however, if you can walk a given distance with a given weight using chains it would make sense that you could walk that same distance or further with the same weight using a static yoke because the chains are much more difficult due to the instability.
