Here’s my top set from today:
Form is pretty good I think? I’m gonna stick with it.

So what is your current total, around 1,200 or 1,300?
No reason why I shouldn’t be able to hit 1300+ easily. I did 1275 last meet, although I thought 1300 was assured that time too lol. The biggest issue is my bench press. I’ve never been able to put a decent bench together at a meet. My form has always been too inconsistent and so I end up with a meet bench like 30lbs less than what I have regularly done in training.
I have the same issue, I psyche myself out all the time, the bar feels different I cant find the proper hand placement. I remember my first meet going for 320, a weight I have smoked in the gym for reps at the time. So it was my second attempt and got it 2 inches off my chest. the next day I went to the gym and smoked it for reps again.
you are not alone. you are not alone.
Checking in as someone still trying to bench something decent in the gym before competing ![]()

It’s good seeing you squat over 400! I don’t know about you, but if I don’t get some 90%+ lifts in every few weeks I won’t get any stronger.

It’s definitely time to start feeling the weight now. I’ll probably start wrapping up here in another week or two as well.

Not my usual workout, but the geared powerlifters looked like they were having a ton of fun, and I wanted to join in on their bench stuff. Also it’s really surreal and funny holding 455lbs over my body.
Okay play time is over. I just did my normal deadlifts after that.
315 3x
405 1x
425 3x
425 3x

Do you think you could make your videos a little shorter? There’s a lot of wasted time at the end of this one.
lol thanks for filming it though, sincerely
Lol, hopefully that gives a little insight on my style so to speak. I do them kind of Olympic lifter-esque with about a shoulder width grip and my elbows forward at the bottom, letting it come down to my chest. A lot of bigger guys like to do it more just like a standing bench press with their hands out wide and the bar hovering in front of their chin. Dizenzo and big Rob Wilkerson and some other huge benchers all seem to favor that style.
I definitely press with pretty similar technique to you actually.
Update pic looking good btw.

I do too. Wide grip or wide elbows on ohp just doesn’t feel right.
Thanks folks!

185 I dunno how many times; I did a slow negative on each rep and went to complete failure
Pullups + Dips superset:
10 pullups and 20 dips each set for 5 sets
Concentration Curl Machine:
couple warmup sets
2 work sets with slow negatives to failure
DB Skullcrushers:
couple warmups
35’s 12x; 5 added negatives to complete failure
30’s 10x; 5 added negatives to complete failure
I love it when triceps reach total exhaustion. It’s hilarious how hard they give out lol. I could barely even hold the 30’s over my body at the end.
Tried channeling the might of Dorian today with the slow negatives and sets to failure. The arm pump was great.

These damn wraps are a lot harder to get used to than I had imagined. They’re ridiculously tight. They throw me out of my groove and they make the rest of my body feel super loose. I can barely control my knees during the squat.
