Bench (touch and go):
45 10x
95 10x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
275 5x
275 5x
275 5x
275 5x
275 5x Been a long time since I did a whole workout touch and go rather than paused. The weight feels stupidly light when I don’t have to pause it lol.
Like it says, I’m only weighing around 182 at the moment. I was really hoping I’d be way leaner when I got this light, but I still kinda feel the same lol.

Damn my back needs a rest. For some reason this week my recovery has been way, way down and my back is just fucking smoked.

Maybe gettin lean plays a role?
Yes, very possible that it’s impacting my recovery somewhat.
You can see my “elbow discipline” is much, much better here. I’m finally attempting to make the jump from sinking it and heaving it off my chest to doing a light touch. I have to be a lot tighter obviously, but I think this change will pay off in the long run. My cue for this is to literally imagine that I am doing a Spoto press, except instead of pausing an inch or two off my chest, I just go all the way to my chest lol.
Only got a couple hours sleep. This was a sort of deload day.
Squat:
45 10x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
275 3x
315 2x I got some Lilliebridge wraps today and tried them on this set. Those will take some getting used to lol. I was popping up so fast that I was losing my balance.
315 4x (wraps back off)
315 4x
Paused Bench:
45 10x
95 10x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
275 2x
275 2x
275 2x
275 4x Just practicing my new pause form

Here’s a video of 185 on the press:

Do you think you could make your videos a little shorter? There’s a lot of wasted time at the end of this one.

lol thanks for filming it though, sincerely
Lol, hopefully that gives a little insight on my style so to speak. I do them kind of Olympic lifter-esque with about a shoulder width grip and my elbows forward at the bottom, letting it come down to my chest. A lot of bigger guys like to do it more just like a standing bench press with their hands out wide and the bar hovering in front of their chin. Dizenzo and big Rob Wilkerson and some other huge benchers all seem to favor that style.

Deload… squats 315 for 4 at 181 b/w lol.
Jealous of the strongman stuff!
Thanks man! I’ve always struggled with squats, but my form is feeling vastly improved and squats are feeling immensely better lately.

Now I get to feel all clever for noticing the elbows first :P
Well like I said to Chia, there are a lot of different ways to bench which are all legitimate, but no one’s fucking elbows do that… So I figure I should get that sorted out lol.

Squats are looking good. What’s your current PR?
So far I’ve done 425 without knee wraps and 440 with knee wraps.
However I bought some Lilliebridge wraps, which feel as different from my old wraps as they felt from not having wraps at all…
I know that’s just powerlifting gear bullshit lol, but I feel like with my new cheater wraps I shouldn’t have any trouble beating that 440 at my meet in about 5 weeks.
The_Jed wrote:
So what is your current total, around 1,200 or 1,300?
No reason why I shouldn’t be able to hit 1300+ easily. I did 1275 last meet, although I thought 1300 was assured that time too lol. The biggest issue is my bench press. I’ve never been able to put a decent bench together at a meet. My form has always been too inconsistent and so I end up with a meet bench like 30lbs less than what I have regularly done in training.
