I am looking at buying a vacation home in Hawaii (Kona). Anyone with any suugestions as to what district is the best to find oceanfront or pretty darn close to the ocean in the 1 to 1.5 million price range?

I was a helicopter tour pilot there for nearly 20 years. I know all the Islands like the back of my hand.
In the Kona area you want to live in the South Kona side. Down by Kealakekua Bay is a real nice area down by the Captain Cook Monument.
Just remember, you will be living at the base of Mt. Hualalei which is a dormant volcano last erupting in 1890. It is still considered as one of the top 10 dangerous volcanoes do to the population that lives at its base (Kona).
You can PM is you have any questions about the Big Island. I prefer the Parker Ranch area myself as Kona tends to run on the hot side.

Not when your paying $3.00 a gallon for gas and $5.00 a gallon for milk…
Those prices are nothing compared to Europe or some places in Australia ![]()

Thanks for the response. Off to Hawaii in about 5 hours. You may be right about the cost of living in Hawaii. It is just one of many possiblities for a vacation house.
Thanks,
