I started taking ZMA for sleep. It initially kept me up but I take 5g melatonin and I was sleeping great for just over a month. Now I am developing the same sleep problems I did before ZMA (waking up frequently, trouble falling back to sleep, very light sleep). Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?
No major changes in life or lifestyle. Diet includes a bit more carbs. I have been trying to eat a bigger dinner because my evening snack taken after a hour after ZMA/melatonin seemed to make it less effective in getting to sleep.
I have had sleep issues for many years and already keep a consistent sleep schedule and all that.
I was recently having stress related sleep issues. Look into that. Anyway, I tried Ambien and Lunesta. The ambien works fast but only gives a few hours of sleep and it’s coma-like, you can wake up feeling like you haven’t slept at all. The Lunesta give 7-8 hours of good sleep, but it leaves the most horrid taste in your mouth the next day. A stronger option is xyrem, which is GHB, you’d be a lucky dog if you got that.
I’m back on the ZMA/melatonin stack now and it’s working great, I don’t even need that all the time anymore. I eliminated some big stress points though.
i have been on it nonstop for about a year now and i love it like it was the first day i ever took it. its almost fun to go to sleep just because of all the crazy, fucked up vivid dreams i get on a nightly basis. i think last night i was running in a lime green jump suit on a beach made of chocolate pudding with cows barking in the ocean. That and i can get about 5 hours of interrupted sleep and wake up feeling like i slept for 10hrs. love it.
