Has Anyone Tried Extreme Stretching?

I read this article yesterday and thought about it a lot:

It sounds legit, but I want to hear of some real results.

I made up a triceps stretch and I was wondering if it’s good and hits all three heads of the triceps. You sit or stand and take a dumbbell over your shoulders and as far down your back as needed, then you hold it there for as long as needed.

The chest stretch listed there is on a flat bench. What if I added a stretch for the same position on incline? Will it stretch the upper chest more?

Where could I find more of these stretches??

Use your imagination.

Who moved this to beginners? I’m not a beginner, and neither is this topic. I doubt any beginners ever did this either. I’m pissed off.

So helpful.

well, static/pnf stretching in the right conditions does create a strength response, and it does create a hypertrophy response in rats, anyway.

That said IGF-1 is sensitive to mechanical load through eccentrics and stretch, and IGF-1 does has a role in satelite cell release for protein synthesis. Likewise, pre-stretching a loaded muscle at least in russian work does seem to have a considerable strength plus (pre-stretch a loaded muscle)

One hypothesis is that stretching in not about tendon work when talking hypertrophy but about fascial work. Think arnold finishing his chest workouts with db flies. This fact wasn’t i don’t think touched on on the article above.

Check for fascial stretching.

if you use it and find results, let me know - you’ll likely feel better at the end of your workout in any case.

Works but you have to treat it as it’s own workout. Kinda annoying.

Have you tried it? If so, provide further details.

Alright.

PNF stretching is best done with the assistance of a partner as well.
