Lots of bad information about Salvia here. It’s bad information used in conjunction with idiots that give the stuff a bad rap.
First, the trip lasts <10 minutes. It’s typically very pronounced in first six-seven minutes, but you’ll have some time after that where you’re experiencing a “total body” high.
One should always have a ‘spotter’ around when trying salvia. People can do things that can quite endanger themselves while tripping, so someone who is straight should be around to monitor the event.
The trip itself can and probably will be quite intense. You can lose yourself and be totally awstruck. Four years ago my roommate leaped around our dorm room, hopping from bed to bed, thinking that he was a monkey in a zoo and I was a spectator. He then jumped off the bed, and tried duct-taping his knee to one of our desks because he was scared that diamonds were coming out too fast.
Anything below 40X grade is pretty pointless, IMO.
Salvia is not meant as a recreational drug, but more so as a rather elaborate way to seek and explore the inner mind. Most experienced salvia trippers all admit to being ‘spoken to’ by a female entity named “Sally.” Keep in mind this is guys who are common trippers though, and seek meditation or spiritual enlightenment.
To achieve desired effects, one is better suited to approaching the smoking of salvia with a water pipe (AGAIN, AND WITH SOMEONE ELSE AROUND) such as a bong or chubbler. Turbo lighters are best for lighting the product, though normal ones will be fine.
When inhaled, you HAVE to hold in the smoke for 20-30 seconds. Don’t worry, it doesn’t sting and isn’t as pungant as something like weed smoke. It’s much smoother and more “earthy.”
Upon exhaling, you’ll start to trip balls. That’s when the spotter takes the water pipe and enjoys the show.
If you’re a spotter, it’s going to be wierd. The tripper will be looking around the room (and at you) completely lost and confused. He’ll probably be trying to reach out and feel for things; this is because he’s experiencing vivid hallucinations. Don’t be scared if they get timid or secluded, tripping can be a scary experience at first. You’re completely out of control.
Ideal environmental settings include a dim room with calm music in the background, in the woods, or somewhere that you won’t experience any interruptions or hassles.
That’s about all I can think of off the top of my head, for now.
