Big squats like always. It’s also nice seeing the bench go up.

Thanks OG, it’s a time when I get mean and determined not to be thrown off by damn inconveniences like sickness or death draining heat, screw that!
late2thegame:Thanks man, a 600 squat is definitely in my sights around mid-July then higher.
Crippler-Yes, it is awesome to make progress finally on my bench. Thanks for noticing the squats too.

Oh, and by the way it was 102 degrees today and due to my lifting yesterday my body was thanking me in waves of exhaustion for work but now I am fortunate to be home and it’s time to rest and recover.

Your squats are always strong. Glad to see all of the bench work paying off.

Thanks Dave, sometimes it’s hard to have the patience to get my bench a little stronger but it’s worth the effort.
Lifting heavy the other day didn’t help my sickness go away and it’s come back in waves of strength this weekend having me tired and my body aching and expelling wonderful green gobs of goo. But, I was able to get up the nerve to lift this evening and it went well.

I had almost no hip pain and very little back pain following the two lifts so I got lazy and decided not to do deads. I will do deads this week but not having any pain or strain is sweet and I guess I was kind of complacent in not pushing myself.

The previous 2 days the sun absolutely drained me and I was unable to lift due to muscle spasms and heat exhaustion. Today was heat bitch too but I managed to put together a nice training after I took my daughter for a bike ride this evening. By the time I got to riding bikes and lifting it cooled down to 96 degrees and there was a breeze so the temps were a bit more comfortable.

Squats:(Raw-no nuttin’)
135 x 10

295 x 2(Some kind of PR)

Standing Crunches:

The second rep on my bench was ugly as hell but I got it up and it felt great to do it. Squats felt strong as hell.

96 is comfortable?..we need to talk ! and good on you for ignoring it and getting the work done in fine fashion.

So, had to get my lifting in this evening before I to a party. Don’t really care about going to a 4th of July party because I like to study the Declaration of Independence and American history on this day but my family is at the party so I will go join them.

Squats:(raw-no nuttin’)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3

Feeling strong. I’m just making excuses but I didn’t do deads because I have a big work day tomorrow and didn’t feel like getting too stressed because tomorrow will be tough.
Happy 4th to everyone.

So, it rained a ton here today and lowered the temp down to 76 which is like a snow storm for day temps here in the summer, luv it. The lifting went fairly well this evening.

135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
455 x 3

Hanging Leg Raises:

After lifting I took my daughter to transplant a small Lilly she grew from a seed from a small pot to our yard, she was ecstatic. Now she wants to grow some vegetables and start a garden. It’s so great to share the time with my 5 year old and watch her learn and grow. What more is the absolute joy she gets and her enthusiasm is irreplaceable. I can’t wait to see her excitement as the Lilly grows.

A PR benching and a Lily adventure.hard to beat…just plain ole good livin’

Got wifi finally but its price required being back in south Louisiana humidity. I really, really feel the “humidity cloud” here whenever I get back from the far north in summer.

Good to read your pain is lessening and workouts have resumed. Keep listening to your body.

Thanks OldGoat, it’s the small things that are really big sometimes.
Glad to see you back Biker, nothing like that humidity. I lived in Louisiana years ago, swampin’. I remember huge mosquitos so full of blood they could hardly move let alone fly. Florida mosquitos are not quite as slow and fat, I think. Maybe it was just the area I was in.

A PR followed by quality time with your daughter. That’s about as good as it gets GV.

Dave, I have to agree with you wholeheartedly.

Strong bench. It looks like you are setting some kind of bench PR everyday. Things must be clicking.

Crippler, yeah the sun has been killing me so I am taking a lot of rest between lift days to recover which has allowed me to make steady progress in improving my bench. Hopefully I will continue to get PRs on the bench and maybe start rocking some big squats.

Yesterday I did a rushed lifting because of family events and my diet was a bit lacking but I got something in.

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
495 x 1
585 x 1(Failed at about half way up, because I lost my balance and moved to far forward but I’ll get it next time.)

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 3
275 x 1
325 x fail(Just rushed this too much and my head wasn’t focused enough-next time gorilla smash)

Standing Crunches:
70 lbs x 20

Not my best day but after having so many great days in a row I am not to worried and will bounce back perhaps tomorrow for another great lifting day.

“Gorilla Smash!!!” I like it. Baby steps my friend, baby steps.

Thanks Crippler, advice noted and an excellent reminder to keep my head on straight.

Another hot day had me zapped for a few hours following work but I put some energy together with a cup of coffee and lifted.

Squats:(raw)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
495 x 1(used belt)
575 x 1(used belt)

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 3
275 x 1
325 x 1(PR)

Standing Crunches:
70 lbs x 20

The 575 squat felt clean and had good depth. My 325 bench was a little ugly but I got it all the way off and up by myself so I was excited and very pumped for hitting a new PR. I haven’t done a 325 lbs bench for more than 4 years and I feel like if I play my cards right I’ll hit 335 by my birthday in a couple of weeks, which is my goal.

Strong, Squats look really strong.
