I was feeling extremely beat from work today and didn’t feel like lifting so I lifted.

Squat:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3 sets x 5 reps

Fat Gripz(blue) Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5(paused)
235 x 4 x 3(paused)

Didn’t do any crunches tonight because I just wanted to get in and get out. Thinking I may take tomorrow off then have a big day on Sunday to kick off my next heavy/intense phase. I can skip the football anyway because my team (Go Dolphins!) won Thursday night.

585 is huge. Wow. Great work on the 3-wheel bench as well.

Lift time was an hour and 15 minutes which is fairly quick for a mini-meet. I’m surprised to have almost no aches and soreness after this intense session. This is not to say I won’t be feeling incredible DOMS so I will be doing as much therapy as possible tonight which will consist of a couple hours of MarcPro and maybe some rolling. My mobility and flexibility were excellent this evening.

Sending my entry forms in today for the Raw United meet on December 13th. It’s just a little less than a month for me to focus in on peaking my lifts so the journey will be fun.

I think I am going to alternate Front Squats with regular squats to give myself a bit of contrast in training. I read about another lifter using this technique with success.

Front Squat Harness? this sounds like a great idea, can you post a pic?

“A cooker” you say. It was 11 degrees here this morning. I’m wondering about the harness too.

By cooker I mean the work was intense but it was about 83 degrees in contrast to today it is 47 degrees. I will post a pic of the front squat harness/zercher squat harness I bought from the Westside(Louis Simmons site a couple years ago). Have to say I love the harness for front squats and zercher work, it is very sturdy.

430 is a huge front squat. Training looking good, as much work as you have put in I would focus on making sure that I came into the meet as close to 10% physically as possible. Looking forward some big lifts via video.

Thanks brotardscience. I have been completely bamboozled the last two days with taking care of my kids while my wife worked at night. That coupled with tons of work has been a doozy. Today I did a ton of work again, mostly trimming bougainvillea(15 feet high by 10 feet around-huge monster) and hedges, which has resulted in my wrists and hips being trashed. I am unable to train again tonight however tomorrow I hope to get back on track. Oh, and the work has worn me out to the bone.

Back to it tonight but my body has been aching as a result I’ve had a trap tension(sort of a headache) that has been plaguing me for several days on and off. So I lifted with the intention of pushing big weight tonight after a 3 day break but my intentions were exaggerated.

Squatting 495 lbs felt good everywhere except my left psoas and there was some harsh pain there so I decided that was enough for tonight. My expectations were for a much higher squat but maybe I saved myself from going to far and I can lift big tomorrow or the next day. The bench was much the same. Once I paused the 265 my shoulders, chest, and back felt like the muscles were ripping with fatigue and stress so I made an executive decision to save higher weights for another day. Hopefully, a little caution will pay off in gains over the next couple of days and weeks.
