Hardcore Essentials2

Thanks OG, Jack, and Crippler. My current record for the front squat is 500 lbs using the harness. I think I may try to get the front squat a little higher soon. Tonight I had a great rebound from the harshness of this week.

Squats:(raw)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
495 x 1
560 x 1(deep/belt)

Fat Gripz Extremes Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1(pause)
265 x 1(pause)
306 x 1(pause)

Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20

The heavy squat felt great tonight. I was doubting how able I was going to be to lift squat heavy tonight but after 495 felt good I got psyched for the 560 lbs and took it low. My bench is continuing to make progress at a slow and steady pace which is really pleasing.

Did a ton of work today and found getting motivated to lift fairly difficult but got it in anyway.

Front Squats:(harness-raw)
161 x 10
251 x 5
341 x 3
451 x 1(easy/deep)

Fat Gripz Extremes Decline Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5(paused)
225 x 1(paused)
265 x 1(paused
307 x 3/4(on pushing from chest I got the bar stuck under the J-hooks and it turned the press into an isometric)

Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20

I definitely had the 307 lbs on the decline BP but I screwed up on my path pushing it up. The heavy front squat was a breeze but I didn’t want to go higher because work today was hard on my hips and back and I wanted to save the effort for tomorrow.

Wanted to wish you a happy Thanksgiving as well G-man. Hoping you, your wife and kids have a great holiday.

And your front squats are impressive.

Big time work again. Enjoy your turkey and family.

Thanks y’all and a Happy Thanksgiving to all! Oh, I haven’t been able to make a video with the front squat harness yet because I ran out of data on my phone plan for the month but that will soon change.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Had a good afternoon lifting.

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
495 x 1
565 x 1

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1(pause)
265 x 1(pause)
295 x 1(pause)
320 x 1(pause)(The PRs are still coming)

Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20

I was going to do deadlifts today however when I was benching the 320 my lower left back strained a bit too much so I decided to wait until Friday for deads. A great afternoon overall and the training temp was 60 degrees, which was awesome. I will try to get a quick lifting in tomorrow on turkey day but I am preparing a roasted asparagus dish for the family meal so my time may be whacky.

great last couple of sessions

have a Happy Holiday

Nice bench work GV.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Thanks Dave and brotard.

Had a nice family Thanksgiving however my girls have been sick for several days and have managed to pass it on to me last night. Today I have been heaving up globs of green lung cookies and feeling like a truck rolled over me several times. I’ve been loading up on the fluids, zinc, vitamin C, and eating more garlic that usual. After a day of rest I am feeling a bit better but still a bit ill. Bouts of dizziness and extreme lethargy are all done and hopefully tomorrow I can get back to some big lifting. Lucky for me I have already hit my goals in weight increase for my lifts this week so if I add a couple more pounds to the progression tomorrow it’s a bonus. The only thing that’s driving me nuts is not hitting a big dead yet this week but maybe tomorrow I can change that.

So, I’ve been down with the sickness the past few days. I thought I would recover completely by today but I was mistaken and have still been experiencing the malaise of sluggishness, congestion, and body aches the flu is kind enough to provide. I was determined to lift today in spite of feeling crappy.

Squats:(raw)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
495 x 1(belt)

Fat Gripz Extremes CG BP:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1(pause)
265 x 1(pause)

1/2" Deficit Deadlifts:
135 x 5
225 x 3
315 x 1
405 x 1
495 x 1

I feel completely wrecked after this. I feel tomorrow I will feel much better and lift bigger. Hopefully this is the last day of my illness and I can be back on track for the meet on December 13th. I am humbled by the way my body responds while fighting this bug.

Drink a lot of water, and get some rest. You’re just two weeks out.

GV you’ve put in plenty of work for the meet, concentrate on getting over the bug now. Hope you feel better my friend.

Thanks guys. I still have the bug but today was the first day since Thanksgiving I could breathe normally and my whole being felt like a huge weight had been lifted off me. Yesterday I was completely crumbled from the previous days lifting and my illness was upon me. So I lifted today.

Squats:(raw w/knee sleeves)
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1
495 x 1
570 x 1

Fat Gripz Extremes Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1(pause)
265 x 1(pause)
295 x 1(pause)

Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 20

570 squat

Wanted more on the bench but it wasn’t in me today, perhaps tomorrow. The squat went well and I think would be good for competition but the effort may have hurt my benching because my strength and energy are still not up to par due to my bug.

Appropriate squat music given your recent health issue.

kpsnap-I have to agree. I was thinking the music was very fitting when I was lifting.

Haven’t totally shaken my bug yet but feeling better every day. Had a funny moment tonight while lifting and I guess the stress made me cough up a huge green bastard lung cookie. It felt like I lost luggage out of my lungs. Lifting went well especially considering the sickness still taking a vacation in my body.

Deadlifts:
135 x 10
225 x 3
315 x 1
405 x 1
495 x 1
550 lbs x 1

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1(pause)
265 x 1(pause)
315 x 1(pause)(Ugly as hell and my but came off but I got it)

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 1
315 x 1
405 x 1
495 x 1

By the time I did 265 on the bench my energy was depleting greatly but the squats were automatic. I considered going to 550 lbs on the squat but decided to save energy for tomorrow. I was really pleased to hit the weights I did feeling a bit under the weather still.

That’s a lot of work. That 600 pound DL is right around the corner.

Thanks Crippler, I am hoping the 600 lbs dead is in lurking my bones and ready to make an appearance in a little over a week.
OH, forgot to mention. I am totally decimated from yesterday’s lifting hence taking tonight off to come back tomorrow for a big squat and bench night.
