Thanks everyone for the congratulations and I am already wrapped around her finger(s).
Congratulations GV, great news!! Here’s hoping for a quiet baby girl who sleeps through the night.
My baby girl is a night owl but my wife is taking the brunt of that because she isn’t working and I’m taking care of almost everything else. I haven’t been able to lift since last week but tomorrow is another day.
Last night was my first night back lifting in more than a week so I really busted my gut to move some large weight and have an intense hour of hefting iron. Wasn’t able to begin lifting until 9:40 PM but that’s what you get when taking care of a 3 year old, helping with a baby and my wife, and household duties.

I was surprised to find I felt strong after taking more than a week off, part of which I had a terrible cold, and the baby thing and all that. I decided to lift as hard as I could and I also was astonished to be feel no stress or tension lifting heavy. My body was pretty loose until now and the after affects are beginning to set in. I am sore all over and moving slow, so it was a great lifting night. Tomorrow the mobility drills and lots of rolling are in order.
Ahhhh, CONGRATS DADDY
There are soooo many more cute things for babies now, Id go broke for sure!
You go at it hard, that week off was your second blessing ![]()
Im not sure which is harder, the baby that wakes in the night, or the “baby” that comes home late in the night.
ENJOY HER, nothing like the little naps when she is nestled on your chest and you "cant" get up :)

Had a crappy night on the bench to begin with but the rest of night went fairly well and my arms were well worked toward the end.
GV, If you don’t mind could you give me an idea of your mobility routine. I checked the “mobility” thread out, but wasn’t sure which drills you grouped together, etc. Was thinking of working this in on an ab day or “off day” during the week. I appreciate any advice on the subject, and I know you are busy. Glad you are feeling better.
Got it. Thanks
Last night’s lifting went well.

This was a ton of explosive work completed in just less than 50 minutes. I had fun blasting through the work and the results are of a very full upper body work are still felt today.
Strong work Gorilla.
Tanks Crippler.
Congrats on the baby !!
Thank sen say. I have been waylaid by Easter and baby and three year old tasks so I haven’t been able to lift for the past few days. Hopefully today I can get back on track. This being a daddy of two young children is taking some adjusting to for scheduling and timing concerning anything I want to do. I expected this time of transition but it is difficult right now to manage. I will learn and evolve.
congrats
Tuesday and Wednesday were both good lifting days for me but I’m too busy to log numbers right now so I’ll get back to it tomorrow hopefully.
Tuesday I did a ME Upper Body day and Wednesday I did a DE Squat day with partial ME Deadlifts from pins at mid shins. I have found that doing the partial ME Seated Overhead Presses before benching greatly decreases my ME Benching so I will move the ME OHP to after benching and my squats and deadlifts have suffered a little loss from being thrown off schedule in my lifting due to family needs. Losing about 6 pounds recently has also affected my ME lifting but it’s hard to avoid when I’m working in hotter weather and expending a bunch of energy in the field. I will get back on the setting PRs soon as I adapt to new and improved scheduling around the baby and 3 year old as well as seasonal increases in work. My goal is to set some records at a powerlifting meet in July, so I’m doing some long term planning.
Tonight(Friday) I had a good night of lifting even though my 3 year old has to watch me lift now and she demands to play with me, throwing a ball, doing a hanging leg raise from the pull up bar, and even tonight trying to do a lat pull down with 10 lbs, so I have an added challenge in my lifting time. My daughter is so strong she can do a full hang from the pull-up bar and do good leg raises so I’m trying to teach her to do a pull up within a few months. She also does kettle bell swings with a 5 pound kettle bell and does a curl using both arms with a 5 lbs dumbell. I am not pushing her to do any lifting. My daughter just loves to do things I am doing and I watch and guide her like a hawk for safety. It’s my belief that for the most part girls and women are not brought up to strengthen themselves like boys are pushed to do. I am taking the approach to give her all the instruction possible so I spend hours with her teaching and inspiring learning with computer games and giving her exercise as much as her ability dictates, she’s amazing me every day. Anyway my lifting:
T-Handle Swings:
125 lbs x 2 sets x 25 reps
DE Football bar bench (Alternating 3 grips):
33 lbs (Bar) x 25
83 lbs x 15

Bench Press (Standard Bar):
185 x 3
225 x 3 x 3
Bench Iso-Hold:
135 x 2 minutes
Football bar OHP (Medium-Shoulder width grip):

130 lbs x 4 sets x 10
Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 25 reps
Worked hard and as fast as possible while playing store/customer with my 3 year old and helping her to exercise as well. The dynamics of this sharing with my daughter is both awesome and challenging. Running with her while she rides her bike and collecting flowers as well as trimming some crape myrtals before lifting served as a good warm up.
Last night I went fairly heavy and the work was satisfying.
T-Handle Swings:
135 lbs x 2 sets x 25
Standing OHP using Football Bar:
83lbs x 10
123 x 5
173 x 3
193 x 3
ME SSB Close Stance Good Mornings:
155 x 10
245 x 5
335 x 3
385 lbs x 3
ME Dead Stop Pin Squats( Starting at 1 inch above parallel):
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 3
495 x 1
DE Pin Deadlifts(Starting at just below knee):
365 lbs x 9 sets x 3 reps(45 sec. btwn sets)
Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 25
My daughter cheered my lifts on and I played with her as much as possible between sets which was barely enough to keep her 3 years old mind occupied.
Lifting was fast and abbreviated tonight. My daughters 3 years old birthday was part of an ongoing event since last Saturday so this evening I only had about 30 minutes to lift.
T-Handle Swings:
135 x 2 sets x 25
ME Decline Bench:
135 x 10
185 x 3
225 x 3
245 x 3
245 x 1
ME Close Grip Straight-leg Floor Press:
135 x 5
185 x 3
225 x 2
Standing Crunches:
80lbs x25
Okay night but nothing special.
