Hardcore Essentials

Thanks Dave, the 500 swings a day has been a real humbling experience. My entire body is in revolt and the fatigue is huge but I think if I can adapt then the reward is great. Just finished my third day this week so let’s see how it feels after 5 days.

OP- I would say that is a definite. Chest height and sometimes just below that is plenty high for swings.

That’s insane. 500 swings is a man’s game, and very impressive.

Thanks Crippler for the props. I have to say that 500 swings with 100 lbs is knocking the stuffing out of me. I just finished doing 14 sets of 25 swings with the t-handle(100lbs) and I’m feeling the way you feel after expending yourself to maximum. My head is a bit in the zone and the rest of my body is extremely tight and pumped. A few hours later I will lift and do another 150 swings between sets which will require a great deal of mobility work afterward and the coffee will be strong beforehand to say the least.

My wife also just did 350 swings with a 25 lbs kettlebell and last night my 3 year old did several sets of 20 swings with a 5 lbs kettlebell. The whole family is getting involved with the swings except my 10 month old but she has an excuse for now.

Well, another day is done with 500 swings under my belt and my wife completed her 500 swings as well. This is the first night that I haven’t felt like at truck ran over me from doing all the swings-could be adapting.

T-Handle Swings:
100 x 6 x 25(Total of 20 sets today with 100 lbs x 25 reps=500 reps)

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3 x 5(RAW-ATG)

Close Grip Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
205 x 3 x 5

Very fast lifting tonight. Lifting total time was 30 minutes. I had to rush because we had a small dinner party which went well and now I get to eat fresh hot brownies.

Posting this here so I have it to access and review for deadlifting performance:

Did 250 t-handle swings with 100 lbs immediately after work and will do another 250 swings tonight to cap off the first week of the 10,000 swing challenge.

Could not finish the 250 swings yesterday due to having to complete assessments for my new job and family and such. However, I did do the remaining 250 t-handle swings with 100 lbs today. The first week of 2500 t-handle swings with 100 lbs has been utterly exhausting and completely devastating to my entire body. So, next week should be fun. My deload week is over with the lifting which means next week I will begin daily lifting at a much heavier level for the next 11 weeks to hopefully compete in my next powerlifting contest. The journey begins.

500 T-Handle swings today with 100 lbs and I got my lifting in before virtual class began tonight.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 8 x 25 reps(12 sets of 25 immediately after work)

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 5
501 x 1(RAW-belt-AtG)

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
255 x 1
275 x 1

Standing Crunches:
80 x 15

I’m finding the 500 swings are giving my shoulders and chest such a thrashing my bench is greatly affected. Maybe my bench was affected by the fast speed I was moving at for this lifting session: 40 minutes total lift time. Time will tell if I can bench more while doing these swings but my squat was strong this afternoon.

Wow, those swings sound brutal. Solid work; awesome squatting.

Thanks Jack. Did 2 sets of 25 swings before work this morning with 100 lbs t-handle then after work did the rest and lifted. It was brutal.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 18 sets x 25 reps(2 sets this morning)

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 5
501 1/2 x 1

Fat Gripz Close Grip Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
260 x 1

Bench was extremely hard and I wanted more but all the swinging is knocking the stuffing out of me.

so you have all turned into swingers aye? hahaha … nice work in here as always, GV

That DL vid was very interesting, some parts go against what I believed to be correct. Ill never understand how a DL is not a pull but a push

Thanks OG, yeah this household is full of swingers, weight swingers that is.

Matty,
I agree and I had to think about that one too. I guess his idea is to concentrate on pushing down with your feet. Like you, I’ve never heard that one before. I liked the video, however, and found some good info.

Have to say the video is outside of what is traditional but I think there are valid points that are worth considering.
Lifting today went well. I have been lifting without drinking any coffee immediately after getting home from work and it’s pretty rough but working pretty good. I don’t have time to lift anymore in the evening because I attend a live class online from 6-10 PM.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 x 25(took a day of from the 500 swings to recover a bit)

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 5
502 x 1(Belt-ATG-RAW)

Close Grip Floor Presses:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 1
255 x 1(Completely worn out-my shoulders are smoked from all the swinging)

Standing Crunches:
80 lbs x 15 reps

My days are so packed. One thing to the next with no rest until 10 PM, then it’s dinner and get ready for the next day. Mobility work has been difficult to squeeze in but I’m doing it as much as possible because I need it to be able to move the following day.

Nice work. I think we’ve all been there. Like you, my days are jammed packed. There are times I don’t even know what day it is. I think training, however, really helps with stress.

Crippler-No doubt about it, lifting helps with stress and it clears my head nicely.

Nice work going on in here Gorilla.

Nice job getting the work in GV. It isn’t always easy when you are bus with everything else.

Thanks Dude and Dave, long-busy days make for deep sleep.
The lifting was fast and furious tonight.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 18 sets x 25 reps(btwn lifting)

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 5
503 1/2 x 1(Belt-ATG-RAW)

Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5

SlingShot Bench Press:
225 x 5
275 x 1
305 x 1(Sure I could of got more especially if not swinging myself to bits and pieces)

Had to rush tonight because I got started late due to low energy but a little coffee helped and then off to school. My bench felt good and my shoulders and traps felt good which surprised me. Maybe tomorrow will be even better.

Good work as always ya big ape!
