Hardcore Essentials

Grats on the post op PR, GV! And wow “475 x 1(3 BB last rep)” That’s more than 100lbs over my 1RM and breathing. Insane work.

Noticed your daughters form when pulling from the floor. Her back is straight as a board w/ high shoulders. You could post a youtube instructional with that video!

Thanks Wiex. Funny thing is I only showed my daughter a couple times how to lift the kettlebell and she always does it right. I haven’t had to give her further instructions for a while. I think it’s in our instincts about how to lift things but as we get older we develop bad habits and tendencies derived from environment and bad teaching.

Solid hypothesis and I completely agree. Our chair ridden culture takes a toll on us long term. I notice it on myself at what is still a reasonably young age in the work force, so I can only imagine how bad it is for people who aren’t active.

Last night I felt like crap due to a heavy work day so the lifting was ho-hum and my 3 year old daughter demanded my attention so all was cut short and distraction level was high.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 sets x 20 reps

Bottom Breathing Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 1

Football Bar Standing OHP:
32 lbs(Bar) x 10
122 x 6
172 x 3 x 3

One of those days…just not feeling it.

That HAIR! What a cutie, I also noticed the “natural” form she had.

…You have many years of her demanding your attention

At least you’re getting her attention and not some guy…think of he positives lol

In the end my daughter’s attention and needs are my biggest priority. The inner drive and fight to get my lifting in want precedence however that conflict is resolved when my girl smiles and gives me a hug.

Wait until she figures out you are also an ATM!!! enjoy the time…and I always squat 405 when I feel crap too…NOT …and with Chuck’s on!!! you da man

LMAO About the ATM. GV’s bad days are still a dream for me. Some day, some day.

Made an executive decision to not lift for two solid days and then come back for a big day on Friday. My body is wrecked and it’s rest and recovery time.

Does your daughter do coaching? I could use some help with my form…

corrmhona-LOL, my daughter is working on her doctorate at the moment in physiology so she doesn’t have time to coach right now.

Just watched a 75 year old deadlift 607 lbs on a video on PowerliftingWatch. Now that is humbling incredible lifting to watch.

Saw the same video, 680 at 70 years old and 607 at 75. Makes me feel weak!

Felt pretty good tonight after doing a bunch of mobility work prior to lifting. Had to do therapy because work has been brutal but lifting was good.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 sets x 20 reps

Bottom Breathing Squats:
135 x 10(10 Breaths bottom last rep)
225 x 5(5 BB last rep)
315 x 3(5 BB last rep)
405 x 1(3 BB last rep)
495 x 1(2 BB last rep)

Fat Gripz Close Grip Bench Press:
135 x 6
185 x 5
225 x 1
250 x 1
225 x 3
185 x 6

Svend Presses:
30 lbs(3-10lbs plates) x 20
40 lbs(4 plates) x 3 sets x 20

My breaths were quick at the bottom of 495 and I will make an effort to make 5 breaths with 500 lbs tomorrow. Bench sucked tonight but tomorrow is another day.

495 is huge without the breath. Fantastic work.

Thanks Jack.

4 dimes on the Svend Press? N i c e …the 3 dimes is hard enough!

Crippler can do it with 5 plates and that’s a whole lot of squeezing plates together so I have some work to do…Thanks Matty.

Big time squats. Five plates was a mess. I can do it, but I keep thinking about breaking some toes if I drop the plates. I’ll stick with four and maybe try five again for fun at some point.
