Hardcore Essentials

207 to 205 is not a big step…solid… dream big, really it is why we do everything.

corrmhona-that’s what I’m sayin’ yo.

Had to get something in tonight even though I felt like a worn out boot sole.

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 sets x 20 reps

ME FatGripz Bench:
45 lbs(Bar) x 20
135 x 10
185 x 3
225 x 1
270 x 1 (I think it’s a recent FatGripz PR-too lazy to look back)

ME Mid-grip Football Bar OHP:
122 x 5
152 x 3
172 x 3

Decided this was enough for tonight because tomorrow will be DE Squats and back work and Friday is DE Bench day. Feel like a slug.

Can I tag along even if I’m not 35? There’s some great stuff going on in here!

Wednesdays will do that to you. Nice work getting out there and getting some shit done!

With the heat your out working in you are a rock just getting in the gym. I literally wouldn’t. Do you have AC in your workout area at least?

Chobbs: I don’t know, hanging around with old farts, you might get ben gay on you and that smell doesn’t wash out easily…

You guys are in your primes

Thanks Dave. Me wants more. I’m thinking about dropping to 205 lbs bodyweight and competing in IPF, USAPL, and such federations. If I can get up to around 700 lbs on my squat and close to that on my deads while improving my bench I will be in contention for a top spot. If powerlifting ever makes it to the Olympics then qualifying will most likely come through an IPF comp so that’s a dream in the back of my head. I’m a dreamer and the kid in me still has the desire.[/quote]
You should absolutely compete. Where did the 205 come from?

chobbs-Welcome, good to have young blood.

kpsnap-I’m just loosing weight because work is so intense. The heat is melting fat off me like butter and my accounts have increased a little which makes for more weighted cardio and may hours of heavy perspiration.

corrmhona-I lift in my garage and all I have is small stand fan for keeping some circulation in the steel cage. Standing in front of the fan after a set can be like heaven and occasionally I get a blast of wind that feels like nirvana.

Thanks Wiex, it felt good to move some weight.

I start to fade when it gets into the 80’s. Just sayin’…

intrigued by the OHP with the FB bar…neutral grip? Hits the tris a bit more?

Matty-The OHP with the FB bar works great. I like the neutral grip position for a change up to the conventional bar and yes I think the triceps get more work. I think the neutral grip is a little more comfortable for any pressing and my shoulders feel slightly better pressing this way but the football bar takes getting used to as it’s a little awkward to OHP with.

In other news, I worked another extremely hot day for many hours in the sun which completely fried me. I could not get the energy or drive to lift, as I was supposed to, tonight. I am totally sapped so tomorrow I will combine lifting DE days and hopefully be recovered enough to throw some weight around.

Finally got some lifting done last night:

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 sets x 20 reps

DE Wide Stance Squats(45 seconds btwn sets):
135 x 10
225 x 5
335 x 8 sets x 3 reps

ME Zercher Pin Squats (Starting at knee-26 lbs Zercher/Front Squat Harness):
161 x 5
251 x 5
341 x 3
431 x 3
501 x 3(Current PR)

DE Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 8 sets x 3 reps(Alternating Grips-close, medium, wide-1 min rest btwn sets):

ME SlingShot Bench:
225 x 5
275 x 2
330 lbs x Fail (I pushed it 2/3 of the way up but couldn’t finish-next time; I think 5 pounds too heavy)

This was a very get-er-done lifting session but hopefully I will get back on schedule next week(Monday).

Try bb rows with a fatbar. Whole new level of this is gonna hurt tomorrow.

Which slingshot do you have?

Chobbs-I have a red SlingShot, which I think is the regular model. Too lazy to look at it right now but I’ll check to see if it has a specific label name.

hawkcapt1912-I will try BB rows with my Fat Gripz since I don’t have a fatbar. I bet I will have to use a much lighter weight.

I take it, the hammy is feeling better. Looked like a really solid session all the way through man. Nice work!

Once more, those were some monster zerchers.

Thanks Crippler.

Tonight was challenging because my 3 year old wanted to play while I was lifting, she demanded to come to the garage with me. She did some 5 lbs Kettlebell squats and some good hangs from my pullup bar. Then between sets I was treated to my girl’s restaurant game and demands to try my lat pull down machine. I also lifted:

T-Handle Swings:
100 lbs x 2 sets x 20 reps

ME Safety Bar Squats:
155 x 10
245 x 5
335 x 3
425 x 1
475 x 1

Goodmornings:
135 x 10
225 x 3 sets x 6 reps(Testing out the hammy-Felt good but I was exhausted)

DE Stiff-legged Pin(At Mid-Shin) Deadlifts:
135 x 5
225 x 5
350 x 12 sets x 2 reps(3 minutes total 12 sets time-Approximately 1 set every 15 seconds)

Hanging Leg Raises:
2 sets x 15 reps

My right hammy was feeling a bit worn and the previous pulled muscle gave a slight protest near the end of the 3 minutes of deads but all went well.

You’re one strong mother
