I think if you consider “boopsy” an insult you’ve got bigger problems to sort out before you start worrying about “intelligent” debates on a bodybuilding forum…[/quote]
I did not consider it anything, there was a question mark at the end. Since you seem desperate to chime in, maybe you can tell me where some one put down Hammer strength machines in a derogatory fashion. If you cant add anything to the discussion, keep out of the bb forum.
If you didn’t think it was insult then what does "you resort to that. " refer to? Also I said “If you think…”, emphasis on IF. I can play the semantics game too. Doesn’t stop you being noticeably butthurt over a non-issue.
“HS machines are great for bodybuilding” is my contribution to this thread. I used them first after reading what Prof X had to say about them - I was skeptical, but found them to be pretty great. I tend to use them for higher reps, 8+, normally 15 or so. I’ve never used the flat variation… But on the incline ones I can press roughly equal to my incline bar. Doesn’t really matter to me though.

Fair enough, I was not butthurt though. It seemed like a typical response on the bb forums however. One person disagrees with another, and the name calling commences.
butthurt is such a good word
Oh and also I prefer to not lock out my reps in the HS machines… Feels good man.
I am laughing at someone actually taking offense to BOOPSY. No matter what is said, you will find something to bitch about if that is the case.

Not necessarily, I had never heard the word before.
I <3 HS Flat bench and Iso rows.

The Iso rows are my favorite back exercise. Do you do them one handed or two hnaded? Overhanded or neutral grip?

Neutral and 1 arm at a time. Love it.

This the way I’ve been doing them to. But then I tried overhand 2 arms at at time and I liked that too, but can’t do as much weight. So I do both now.
Iso rows and hammer strength high row are my two favorite machines of all time for any bodypart. The amount of techniques I can use on both are just unrivaled by any machine and some free weight movements.

I recently started doing these to work on my back width and have seen good gains. Much better width than when I was a predominant DB rower/pull ups kinda guy.
I still do those exercises as well but i’ve been hitting the iso rows hard lately
EDIT: Tried to load a pic but didnt work

Ya, lately I have been hitting the high row hard. Sometimes I do it for max weight, but I love doing dead-stop work on it. I feel it so much more than on any other exercise that I do in a dead-stop fashion for back.

recently I’ve been experimenting with wide grip pull ups (concentrating on trying to pull my elbows down to my hips) while supersetting that with straight arm pull downs for a pre exhaust. I’ve always had a bit of a hard time ‘feeling’ my lats working… but not anymore.
My lats always feel very pumped after that and it helps me feel them actually working for the rest of my back day.
heres a pic from the gym this morning. Did back yesterday… I never really see what my back looks like (obviously… cause its behind me lol) but after looking in the pic I like whats going on back there. I need to get a better V but with my new strategy I think thats only a matter or time… and I need to thicken up my traps quite a bit as well.
EDIT: After looking at pics I realized that I store a lot of my fat in my low back. love handles FTW! ![]()

Thanks, DF – been on the road all week.
Sneed- I do the low row and the iso row (the one with multi-grip and you sit more upright) with both arms until my form starts to break down. Currently, I’ll work up to 4 plates per side for reps or so, then add 1-arm reps. Repeat 5 plates. Last set these days are 6 plates 1-armed mid-rep range or so (have to look at my log).
I joined this one gym solely to work my back with the T-Bar and HS equipment as they are the only place within an hour that has that equipment.
that greg doucette guy is a beast, and lives a few hours away from where i go to school, it’s insane how puts up those weights when he weighs so little, motivating for sure
