I drink around a half gallon of milk a day, but that’s about it for liquids. Seems that I need to step up my drinking, especially in the bulk i’m starting in a week. I’ll get one of thos quart bottles to take to classes and try to drink 2 per day.
Yikes dude, that’s a really good way to get yourself some kidney stones. All that calcium with no water to help flush it through the kidneys = bad times.

Somebody on here (I believe it was BradTGIF) was telling stories about how he always used to drink tons of milk, and no water (being raised on a farm) and ended up with kidney stones as a result.

So yeah…drink up! Also, you might wanna start pounding cranberry juice, as that is supposed to be really good for your kidneys as well…you know…depending on how long you’ve been doing that.

i carry a nalgene bottle around with me all day and I drink between 1-2 gallons a day… and pee constantly. Definitely a down side having to pee like an old man every hour
for this very reason my nickname up at school is no joke “old man *****” with my last name in place of the *'s.

Super hydration is fine if you are sweating a ton (work outside, summer) or are planning on drying out for competition or peak.

But drinking 2 gallons of water a day? What is that doing to all of the minerals and water soluble vitamins and substances in your body?

Flushing them right out!

I drink about 1/2 of my water in my WO window because I’m thirsty and it’s got Anaconda and Recovery in it.

I drink a bunch when I wake up about 1/2 hr before eating.

Then, between meals more water with minerals in it - Celtic sea salt, lemon, sometimes ACV. I usually end up at 1 gallon a day or so.

Don’t get too carried away with this 2 gallons / day. You end up doing more damage than good.

The more muscle you have, the more you move/contract = the more heat you produce, as heat is a byproduct of Muscle contraction/ATP breakdown. Probably ABOUT 1/3-1/4 of the total water i drink is done in the gym. I also walk out of the gym basically drenched. Id also like to mention that i probably dont drink exactly 2 gallons, if you take a look at my OP, i say i drink approximately 2 gallons.

Id say the more accurate estimation would be around 1.6/7 gallons, but saying something like that would imply that i take time to measure my water intake, which i dont. I simply have a container loaded about 2/5 with frozen water stuck in the freezer. Every morning i pull it out, fill it with water, and let it sit for an hour or so, melting the ice but chilling the water.

Then i fill up my Gallon jug, normally a couple inches short of the top, and continue on my merry way. Not to mention when i dont drink the amount of water that i do, i get extreme cotton mouth. So i hardly think im drinking too much.

Akuma:

Try putting a teaspoon of Celtic Sea Salt in your gallon of water drinking that throughout the day. I’m betting you will cease to feel the cotton mouth and won’t feel as thirsty.

^^^ I already do that already, helps remineralize the water from what I’ve been told. Someone should also mention the importance of adequate sodium intake or potentially start a thread discussing it.

I don’t notice any difference between sipping water all day vs. drinking whatever just when I’m thirsty.

That being said, I do like to get plenty of tea in my system. While I don’t think there is anything magical about super-hydrating myself, I do believe that there is enough evidence supporting the health benefits of tea (I mix it up mostly between green, white, and black) that I want to work it into my day more.

I’ll mention it. The shit is important.

I drink around 2 gallons per day in the summer here…I sweat a ton, and am just always thirsty. I don’t even TRY to drink any set amount of water, but when you’re in a humid environment and are active in it…it’s just a necessity.

← San Diego… It was 100 Degrees an hour ago lol.

Do you think there’s a limit to how much water one consumes per day? I drink a ton of H2O, and didn’t know if too much could negatively affect digestion, kidneys, or any other facet of the human body. Thoughts?

So yea, i do believe one can drink too much water, but there are a lot of factors people dont take into account- Bodyweight, Muscle mass, Activity level, etc. The above link mentions the death of a woman drinking 2 gallons of water and holding her pee as for a contest. fact is she is a women, possibly a smaller lady, she was inactive as she was in a contest, and was holding her piss, 2 gallons chugged worth. A muscular man, possibly adding 100lbs on said woman, constantly dripping with sweat in the gym and urinating whenever he had to sounds just fine. I dont really see an issue with 2 gallons a day for a larger person.

^^ I think you’re overthinking this man. Semi-related but I heard about this woman who died from drinking too much water in water drinking contest to win a Nintendo Wii.

Damn you Akuma, beat me to it!

Ben Kim is a bit of an extremist. According to him, everything that’s wrong with you can be cured by a combination of living like it’s 3000 BC and thinking positive thoughts.

He wrote something about how you shouldn’t get x-rays taken once. Not to mention how soap will kill you and your cell phone causes cancer.

Haha really? I cant say that i read the entire thing really. I read a couple points, and copied it. I think i was mroeso won over by the mention of the Lady and her Wii.

Oh well, Moral of the story is yes you can drink too much, but for bodybuilders/weightlifters that have size and weight on their body, Too much is an ASSLOAD. lol

I don’t think it’s about size as much as consuming a ridiculous quantity of water at one time, and then not allowing your body to excrete it.

Seriously, two gallons over the course of a day is a lot. Two gallons at once is insane. Then holding your piss is doubly insane.

I’d say drinking a gallon a day and adding a bit of salt/making sure you’re getting adequate sodium/minerals is the way to go.
