bullshit…you can never drink enuff water
I really cant get behind this. It seems everything nowadays can be bad for you. Im sure if you looked hard enough you would find articles on why too much broccoli can cause cancer. They always find something in everything that will give ou heart problems, liver problems, etc. Anyway,I don’t think too much water wii give anyone problems. I mean its fucking water for god’s sake. You can get water sickness form consuming too much and that has happened to me a few times before but other than that i think we will all be OK.
You actually can kill yourself by drinking too much. It is called Hyponatremia.
Here is a quote from a small article I read about it…
http://www.jnj.com/news/jnj_news/20031030_105713.htm
That is pretty crazy.
And for that to happen, you have to drink several liters in a very short time period. It’s extremely hard to drink that much. Heck, I almost puked after I drank like a liter in 10 minutes once. You’d probably have to drink about 3 liters in less than half an hour for this to happen.
So don’t worry.
maybe thats why i literally get stupid when i drink too much water.

Sure, just blame it on the water:)

LOL. Really though. I have trouble articulating my thoughts. I can’t find the right words to use in conversation. I can’t even focus on anything clearly. Its almost like i am drunk or high. Fucked up aint it

Um… vodka does not equal water. That’s probably why you feel drunk.
On a serious note, how much do you drink to get this “high”? Water, that is…
First of all show me one coherent scientific paper that states we should be drinking eight glasses of water per day. How many times have you heard that, yet I have never seen the science to back it up.
Drinking when you are thirsty, on the other hand, makes a tremendous amount of sense.
of course, if water can get you high you know they’ll make it illegal…much like those plants that grow in the dirt.
And if you breathe in too much air in a short time - you’ll pass out.
Everything will kill you sooner or later.

Hmmm…i don’t know. i usually get down about 2 1/2 gallons a day with a few Diet Rite soda tossed in. Like right now i feel like i wrote in my last post. I’m currently taking time away from the gym due to overtraining but i have kept my water intake the same. I’m probably always holding water and drinking that same amount everyday it probably just builds and builds until iget…well…stupid. i guess i should cut back on the augua.

I don’t know about that. I sometimes will drink a gallon(4 liters)of water in under a minute. I’m still alive.

The act of living is very detrimental to life.

I think this is largely BS.
I have upped my water consumption greatly during the past 6 months or so. During the day, at work, I generally drink around 3-4.5 litres (sorry guys, you will have to do your own conversion). Add in another 1.5L during a workout and another 1.5L at home afterwards. somewhere around 6-8litres per day, NOT 8 glasses per day, which I believe is nowhere near enough. Sure, I have heaps of trips to the bathroom and get heaps of funny looks from workmates, but I feel better all the time and my recovery from workouts has improved.
Also, it hasn’t killed me yet.
During stupidly hot days I have been known to go 2 litres in an hour. That also hasn’t killed me.
Just my 2c…

C’mon Zeb, you know better than that.![]()
Thirst is a horrible indicator of hydration status.
I agree, in that I have yet to see actual epidemiological studies on this, but the theory is based on the idea that people are chronically dehydrated.
Cheers
It’s odd that it takes a tragedy like Walkerton to make us look twice at this, although I won’t be changing my habits any time soon. I drink 2L in the hour an a half surrounding my workout and me have no side effects yet (except for some brain… whatever it’s called).
It may also depend on what’s in the water -for example, in Boston, my urine is constantly bright yellow, while in the Canadian arctic (ie Toronto) the snow that we boil for water should be the purest in the world (ahem, except around Walkerton of course).
Cheers

Yes, and also here in Ontario we need to be selective on the snow we choose for melting…yellow shade is to be avoided…darn huskys…lol

Why won’t you drink yellow snow???
It’s my favourite, for sure.
It tastes soooooo good. Almost like lemonade, but a bit acidic.
