Anyone know of good gyms in the western-ish section of Nassau County, Long Island? This place is littered with brand name gyms filled with machines, ellipticals, and milf’s but no where especially quality to train.

I used to go to the Powerhouse gym in Garden City, right behind Roosevelt Field mall. Not so much “western” Nassau, but it’s something.
Last time I was in there, they had just about the entire Hammer Strength plate-loaded line, dumbbells up to, I think, 120 or 150, and three or four racks.
For some more options, step into the Delorian, hit 88 m.p.h., and check out this thread from way back:

Have you tried Bev Francis’ Gold’s Gym in Syosset? Great gym, trained there once or twice on vacations.
I used th=o train at that Powerhouse as well, grea place. I also used to go to Gotham Fitness in NHP, on Hillside Ave.
The original owner was pretty cool (he owns a powerhouse in Bayside Queens as well), he’d be training himself, used to ask a lot of questions and always willing to talk ‘shop’. Actually, my 2 brothers and a bunch of my buddies still go there.
It’s a different atmosphere now, the guy who took it over doesn’t know shit about training or running a gym, looks like hell, and tries to market everything to middle age housewives. Still, facitity-wise, it’s not bad, although they have jacked the prices a lot more than I’d pay.
