Gym Observations and Ramblings

No one in this gym TRAINS. They all workout.

On a side note, what is it with the recent influx of people saying that they “train” instead “working out”?

Maybe because Dave Tate (today’s tip)and Jason Ferrugia recently (article) made a huge fuss over the distinction that now everyone needs to say the same?

It’s all semantics, like categorizing exercises by “movement patterns” over “muscle groups”. Why does everyone feel the need to be so unique? Let it go…

BTW: Charles Staley refers to his “workouts” as “practices” and doesn’t care much for the term “training” because in his mind you “train” animals, not humans

I still prefer to train.

If some little guy tried givimg me advice, I’d be annoyed, too.

You’re 5’10, 183 lbs. That is below average weight.

Why would anyone listen to you?

Assuming you “train for strength,” and have have been training for six years why aren’t you bigger? I do not know any guys who are actually strong who are also not bigger than average?

You post a lot and I usually consider your posts to be “newbieish.” I’m honestly not sure why you think you know so much.

Dude, you’ve been “training” for six years but are at a below - or just barely - average weight.

Why do you feel so superior? This is a serious question.

Again, every guy I know who “trains for strength” has significant muscle to show for it. Why? Because training for strength makes you big.

I highly doubt you are in a position to label others in your gym as “fools.”

I personally like public gyms it’s like going to the circus.
If that’s the case, I have to wonder how hard you are lifting. I usually don’t have time to pay attention to the “circus” unless I’m warming up or something. And I don’t love it. It’s obnoxious. If you cannot understand why it’s annoying to be in a non-hardcore gym, then you have probably never truly lifted with any sort of intensity.

Yes, it’s super annoying that every guy, to show how manly and alpha he is, immediately copies whatever the latest thing it is that he read.

I AM AN ANIMAL!!! So I TRAIN. When I train, I train WARRIOR STYLE!!! AAaaaaarrrgghhhhh!

Unconventional!!!

DB
Hysterical. I just about peed myself laughing.

Dude get an MP3, even when you have it on you can still hear your training partner.

About the other people, unless they are curling in the squat rack when you need to use it there is no reason to be annoyed, pissed off, or whatever. Don’t look around at what other people are doing, just focus on your lifts. If you find yourself looking at other people, hit yourself lightly on the head (I sometimes do this)and go back to focusing on your lifts.

my 2cents

Which, by doing so, reveals how Beta the actually are.

Size and strength do not neccesarily go hand in hand. Pavel Tsatsouline is a very slight man, yet clearly a strong one. Yeah my bodyweight is average for the population. However, my body comp is not, therefore i do look like i train.

That you even compare yourself to “average for the population” truly tells me all I need to know about you.

To the extent I compare myself to others (which, secure in myself, I don’t), I don’t look at the GENERAL POPULATION. I look at OTHER PEOPLE WHO LIFT WEIGHTS.

Aren’t you slightly over 200 and fat?

I never said i compare myself to the average population, i merely stated that statistically i am indeed about average weight, but that i look totally different to the average man.

CaliforniaLaw i have read many of your posts and it appears to me you love an online fight with people you are extremely unlikely to ever meet.

Great intensity, bro. Every time I rev up the engine, every time I pop my BCAAs and chase them down with boars blood, every time I attack the iron, I feel the same way.

Some might call it murder, I just call it instinct. Animals can’t be arrested for murder. Can you handle it?

From another thread.

But looking the part is very important if you live in an urban area. On more than one occasion, while walking with my wife, groups of people who were mocking people who walked by them literally went silent when I walked by. On another occasion, someone with road rage started running up to my parked car to “attack” me. Upon seeing me exit my car, he literally turned around and scurried away like a rat.
From the storys I have heard from him I dont think hes woried about meeting them.

Not fat at all. When do you want to exchange pics?

Yawn. I have fought many times on the street and boxed in a ring. I have pictures of the latter.

Via PM we can exchange pictures of you engaging in some sort of combat sport anytime you like.

We can post them right here in this thread if you want to “prove” something.

These could be lies, of course.

I actually found some old boxing pics that I will post once my “e-challengers,” lol, want to agree to post pics of them engaging in some sort of organized fighting.

I like what Alwyn Cosgrove calls it the best-“Throwing heavy shit around.”

Yet again you choose to read more into my post than it actually says. I never said you wouldnt fight people in real life on the street. I merely stated that you seem to love an online fight where one is not necessary.

Just for the record i have sparred in the boxing ring many times too. Never competed though so lets not start a game of oneupmanship. Im bored on this now </>

Have you finally lost the fat? You have posted that you are carrying a lot of fat many times.

And feel free to post your pics.
