You can’t nowadays. I have seen it many times where kids (mainly teens in high school) who defend themselves end up in as much if not more trouble than the aggressor.
No, I mean I didn’t know that it was even actually possible.
I was a weird kid. ![]()
My son has clocked a couple of kids. One pair was bullying other kids and teamed up on him. He backed them down immediately.
He did lose recess for one day, but nothing disproportionate.
I dunno. A couple of my neighbors wear them (milfs, not kids) and I appreciate their effort towards self confidence and expression. ![]()
Its when they start preening and bending over in front of you that I consider it presentation behavior. They’ll do that when they’re fertile.
I hope I never have to deal with this, but I will raise my kids to stand up for themselves and to bullies.
I will gladly step in after the fact and use every legal resource in my power to make the kids, the school, and their parents lives a living hell if they try to act stupid.
They are fortunate enough to have an attorney for a dad.
I got a disorderly conduct ticket (high school circa 2005) for throwing the kid who shoved me in the hall into a locker after months of bullying. I could have stayed and pounded his face in but I walked away. I got suspended and had to do community service to make the ticket disappear. He got a slap on the wrist and detention…
My parents didn’t care though since I told them I was going to defend myself next time. I celebrated by going fishing on my suspension days.
As a woman, I don’t support dressing provocatively for its own sake, but I do think that women should be allowed to dress comfortably, even if that means showing more skin than some may deem appropriate.
In the context of a commercial gym, there is no reason to be 1/2 nude given adequate air conditioning. In an un air conditioned gym in the summer? Less clothes is probably warranted even if it shows “too much skin”
I don’t think you’ll find any straight men complaining about grown women dressing to show more skin
.
I just don’t get women that wear the least amount possible then complain about people looking.
If you are attractive and going to show it, it’s normal for people to look / admire it.
Can you honestly tell me though that those booty shorts where half ones ass is hanging out of are comfortable? Leggings, compression gear, I understand all that.
There is one female at my gym that is near my age, 3 kids, no dad around, desperately seeking somebody to pay her way.
100% she is very pretty and in phenomenal shape, but yeah she wears shorts she’s constantly having to dig out of her ample ass - can’t be comfortable.
nope, I do not condone that kind of dress
exactly
Agreed 1000 percent
This is generally what I’ve seen, which flies in the face of the notion, “but if you’re strict, they’re gonna rebel!,” which implies one should do nothing in such a situation. I’ve considered covering this in the fatherhood thread. I’d rather not derail this thread.
I think that as parents its up to us to install a moral reference. They’ll rebel somewhat anyways, but unless theres some real damage, they’ll return to those reference points.
Spot on.
What I’ve also seen is some greatly rebelling because the parents didn’t care.
Yep, as long we lived under their roof, we had to follow their rules
Which is 100% fair.
Teaches respect and good life lessons for life too.
Later on when we were all older we actually thanked mom and dad for raising us the way they did…the five of us
Same here.
I’m the oldest of 4.
They have an attorney, college professor, high level engineer / coder, and the youngest about to graduate medical school.
They were parents and not our friends until we were grown and their job was done.
I can’t thank them enough. Especially now that I have my own children - I see what they did and sacrificed to do right by us no matter how hard it was.
That causes damage.
