Gym Dilemma

So far in my short life, I’ve carried gym bags, chalk, dropped 500lbs from waist height onto unpadded flooring, grunted, screamed, farted, trained without shoes and done almost every other gym faux pas - yet no one has said a thing to me…

You Americans must have it tough out there.
no not really, no one says shyte to me

Depends on what gym we go to. I’d definitely set off a lunk alarm at PF!

Dude wtf why are these gyms so expensive? I pay 256 a year for the Powerhouse I go to and it has 3 squat racks and 1 power rack.

I often say that loudly in the gym…for funsies =p
Dammit, that’s what I should’ve said today during lockout of my 2nd/last rep of a heavy deadlift!

Man after seeing those options im grateful of the gym i go to, less than 500 for the year its nice, noone cares if your loud with weights etc and theres 2 squat and power racks and noone curls in them

I pay 78 bucks a year for my Oly gym and nothing for the Strong Man facility. I gotta travel at least 30 minutes to each of them tho.

I’m gonna be on the lookout tonight for curls in the squat rack… and also shouting BOOM HEADSHOT if I break a PR in the military press

800-1000 for a gym membership is insane

I curl in the squat rack like it’s my job!

Dolphin, hands down, unless you’re a rich motherfucker. But seriously, spend all that extra cash on food.
‘Hardcore’ is what YOU bring to the gym. There are a bunch of gyms in my area, I choose to stay at the ‘hole’ that’s nearby because of accessibility. I have no excuse not to get there everyday. I have no excuse not to get in late on a Sunday night and hit my intervals even if I’ve been out all day. I have no excuse that traffic’s busy after work and it’ll take too long to find a parking spot.

With the right know-how and attitude, you can get your training in anywhere.

Bump!

Remember- you’re only in the gym 1-2 hours per day… It’s the CATALYST for growth. Growing occurs outside the gym by eating and recovery. Intensity is dependent upon YOU. Workout and get out. $800-$1000 per year for a gym membership?? Screw that!!

Update: Although I had already made up my mind at this point, the wife also added her input.

Starting next week we’ll be official members of Dolphin. I can’t wait to belong to a gym again.

In other news,

I did get a BOOM HEADSHOT, as well as a KABOOM, BABY (Starcraft 2 reference)

No squat rack curls! But I noticed today they have a sick hammer strength 4-way neck plate loaded machine! I gave it a shot, was interesting to say the least. Hopefully down the line I can take some pics/vids of the place to share with you guys. Thanks for all your helpful input/comments. Nice to see the board heading in a NOT-lame direction!

Your attitude certainly determines “hardcore” Stu  I never saw it that way. Be the change you want to see in the world, can’t remember which wise person said that but it applies here. We all have no excuses.

haha and great idea, that’s what I will be doing next tricep session.

NYC Parks and Recreation centers offers $50-$75 a year gym membership for adults, $10 for seniors. They are located in all 5 boroughs of NYC.

I’ve only been to one of these, so I can’t say how they all are, but the one I was in was small but had enough for me to do my workout.

Most people at my gym dont have a sense of humor though. I remember one time i was rowing 5 plates, then there was an earthquake. Everything started shaking, so i dropped the weight, stoop up and pointed at my partner, and very loudly said “DO NOT ANGER ME!!!” Like 3 people laughed. Everyone else was “too concerned with the earthquake,” or had they ipod in…

I think thats most people in general, unfortunately.

True enough.
