and then a neo-style harness

With 9 of them one is sure to fire, well hopefully anyway.

Curious what do you guys carry as far as EDC/Work/Deployed Blade?
i am not a sexy sf guy.

my experience with knives and the military comes solely from my expeirence at the fighthouse on benning, and the lvl 3 and 4 combatives classes.

i know the creater of MACP has helped designed the LHR knife. while the blade itself doesn’t strike me as being something of a brand new concept, the rentention system on it is brilliant.

I know the army has many documented cases where a soldier was involved in a close quarter situation and had his own knife drawn out by the badguy. i know a common way to wear the bayonett is upside down, vertical, on the chest. if you were to be at grappling range with an opponent, it would be to easy for him to yank the blade out.

the LHR knife is locked in similar to how a lot of holsters secure a pistol. however in ‘combat speed’ against OPFOR, it was still easily allowed to be deployed.

the knife is set up to be worn on the strong side, and falls in-line with the ‘post-frame-hook’ concepts being taught currently at the unit level for ‘close the distance’

while probably not applicable for all situations, imo it seems to be a well made blade, with a good retention/deployment concepts that work in high stress situations. if i was going to be involved in cqb and did not have access to a pistol, i would feel confident wearing the lhr.

for just walking around/field use, i got the coldsteel ak47 knife for my bday and have been using it since. it’s cool i guess.

(check out the vid of the stress tests, it’s pretty cool as well)
Cool, US Calvary gives 15% discounts code cavtnp and AG Russel gives military 25% off all blades just have to have a military email address or send them a front pic of your CAC card.

thanks for the tip.

I’m partial to springfield because their local, but I’ve also never had a complaint with any of their firearms I’ve operated.

I’m glad to see Gerber is still doing well with military contracts. I wish I could get my hands on a Garber Mark 2. My dad has one from when he was in the service and while an outdated design, it’s a real thing of beauty. I’m not sure what their deal is now, but back then Gerber had a lifetime guaruntee on all their knives.

Also, nice to see some love for Coldsteel. I used to carry a Recon 1, but I really love them for making an affordable machete that doesn’t fall to shit the second I use it.

Thats a good idea. While I have never “personally” ripped a man in half I have fired both barrels of shot simultaneously and blew some shit up.

Long-time bump here.

Finally got the wife and I to a shooting range. All I know, the gun we rented was a Glock 9mm. Both of us shot it rather well, easy to use and load, didn’t jam once with about 100-125 rds.

So, I may not be looking for home defense right away, but something we could go back and shoot. Do indoor ranges allow these types?

any thoughts on this? http://www.impactguns.com/ruger-lc9lm-9mm-semi-auto-pistol-with-lasermax-centerfire-sight-blued-finish-71-capacity-3206.aspx

I know shit about guns, but my buddy is a hardcore gun nut. For price+value he truely believes in sig sauer…guy fucking loves that company.

Shotguns are good for home defense.

Not enough rounds, although someone in the squad would have one!

For the record, the most common weapon is/was something that takes a 7.62x51 (aka .308 basically). I used a scoped version of the M14 called an M25 or sometimes used an m39.

We use various machines guns that used the same round, like the m240, that the fat guy carried.

Also common is the .22 LR, subsonic with a suppressor, but that’s a secret. SHhhh. Too bad they spilled the beans on “Top Shot.” It is a shockingly awesome weapon and easily available to civilians.

Pistols varied, but pistols exist so you can fight your way to your rifle. I had an M9, which is a 9mm. Not sure I’ve ever fired mine with intent to kill someone. Might have. I would also rather take three or four extra mags for my M14 instead of the pistol, which I did on many occassions.

Shotguns are ideal for home defense.

Go get a Ruger 10-22 rifle. Get two, in fact. Buy several of the 25 round magazines made by Ruger – NOT the aftermarket ones.

This is a fine weapon and not a terrible home defense weapon, either, because you can put 20 rounds into someone in 5-6 seconds, and they will die.

Sigs are great guns. However, price point they are pretty high compared to a glock, S&W, etc.

Someone suggested for serious home defense I should go for a pump action shotgun, that sound about right?

Is there non-serious home defense?
Stern wrote:

Yes. Remington, Mossberg, or (my favorite) Benelli. Leave it loaded, safety off, no round in chamber (having to cock the weapon is your safety).*

12g, 00 buck, 3 inch shells.

If you have a woman that might use it, contemplate stepping down to a 20g.

 • If you have no kids. If you have kids, figure out your own situation and their level of stupidity and familiarity with weapons.

Rubberbands?

These fellas…

Sorry I just can’t help joining in on the luls when I see them. :frowning: Home defence out here generally takes the form of a ‘malky’ while shouting “GET OOT YA BAWBAG!”
