Let’s change the genre a bit here:
This John Williams is not the composer! Keep in mind that this is ONE man, ONE guitar.

Stevie is clearly in another place during this song, especially the solo.
If guitar solos could kill…
In high school we used to argue about solos and it usually came down to Eruption and Rock and Roll machine by Triumph…as far as speed goes anyway.
Buckethead can also play the bass like a mofo.
Saw Yes when Steve Howe and Trevor Rabin were on the same stage, it was amazing. The best part was they had a circular stage that rotated during the whole show.
A friend of mine’s brother used to take guitar lessons from Randy Rhoads, lucky little shit lol.
Can’t post youtube from work ![]()
I would love to play a “name that solo” game where you say you can name that solo in five notes or whatever. Sometimes one 1/2 note bend could give it away if you have a good ear for that.

Sharon Isbin also does a great job on this piece. I can’t post videos at work either but look up any of Niccolò Paganini’s 24 caprices transcribed for the guitar on youtube.

Final Fix
The guitar solo from the RUSH song, Limelight.
I think I’ve posted this clip about 3 times on this very site, but I still get goosebumps watching it.
It starts at 47 seconds and finishes around 2:30, although you really should watch the whole song.
It’s hard to shine when your bandmates are consistently ranked in the top 5 of their respective instruments, but Alex manages to in this song.

Well said.
Neil Peart may be the greatest technical drummer of all time and Geddy sings, plays keyboard and a mean bass all at the same time. Alex Lifeson is one of the most underrated guitarists ever.
As for Tom Morello, he’s not human so he doesn’t count.
I have got to say it.
You know how you guys feel when people who know nothing about working out talk about how jacked Brad Pitt was in fight club?
As a musician, I get that exact same feeling reading who you think are “amazing”.

Scotty Anderson bitch!
First of all, fuck you.
Second of all,
being amazing is someone who is just fucking great, I mean, almost untouchable in his style in that time, can we agree on that?
Then Django Reinhardt was amazing. Jeff Beck is amazing.
Someone like John Petrucci ain’t.
So…
We’ve all seen “It might get loud” by now, right?
If you haven’t. Hop off this thread and get it. Watch it once, eat some food, watch it again with the comentary, call a friend about it, talk it out, then watch the deleted scenes.
One of the coolest damn documentaries about the process of a guitarist I’ve ever watched.
Still not sure why they picked The Edge to be in it, maybe because he’s so damn technical, but at any rate. Please, watcht it
