Guitar Solos

I wasn’t a huge fan of Prince until Yo Momma posted a link of Prince that went on forever. The guy is so talented. BUT… I have lost that link and I happen to be a huge fan of ACDC. Here is Angus Young.

I wish I had this kind of talent.

Slash

Travis Barker on drums… amazing

My dad still talk about the time he got see Buddy Rich against Gene Krupa in a battle of the drums.

Edde Van Halen… just amazing.

I hope this thread lasts long enough for Yo Momma to add to some great soloists!

Here is a live version of Estranged. Slash has stated that this is his most difficult and complex song to play.

It’s also my favorite GnR song.

holey moley… can you even imagine being that good.

who knew Mark Knopfler could really play?

I could post Page solos all day, but here is a favorite of mine. I have several different live versions of this song, but this is the best one.

Page’s solo starts about 2:45 in. I prefer Page over any other guitarist because of his creativity and spontaneity while playing live. He’s at his best here doing just that.

okay that was gorgeous!

I prefer my Southern Rock refined and polished so I lean more toward the Allman Brothers than Skynyrd.

This whole song is one big solo.

I’m not really a guy who looks for traditionally valued examples “musicianship” in my pop music [if that makes sense- I guess I’m saying I like sound and aesthetic over notes and virtuosity], so solo’s aren’t really something I hold in high esteem, but this songs always impressed the hell out of me.

Speaking of GnR, the solo’s on this song always impressed me [3:45, 7:00ish]:

what? no led zeppelin!! YOU INFIDELS!

I already posted Over the Hills and Far Away.

so freaking amazing

Pink Floyd- Time [3:25ish]

As much as I don’t like Floyd and most other prog rock bands, the solo’s on Time and Comfortably Numb are great. They just had really overrated albums :D.

Another band I hated, but a song with good solo’s nonetheless [2:15, 4:15]:

[3:50…better to listen from 3:30 though]

I always preferred the solo’s on The Black Album to most of th solo’s on the 3 albums preceding [flame away people].

I was just thinking of posting Mr. Crowley. Good choice!

And I’ll ignore your Black Album comment.

A little “English Blues”.

A couple of nice solos in this piece, but best is at 3:55.
