What do you do when the knurling eats into your fingers?

Not sure if srs but will answer srs. The damage is done when the bar/ur hand/ ur skin is moving about relative to each other and the knurling can tear shit up. If you’ve set your grip up right then there shouldn’t be much relative movement so you’ll just have better grip with more aggressive knurling instead of more bleeding.
If you lose/loosen your grip with mixed or double overhand you can get torn up easy but with hook (cos it shouldnt happen much at all) the thumb nail slides off your other fingers and the grip pops open rather violently and explosively but almost instantaneously so there’s no much time nor contact area to get shredded. You might fall on ur butt tho.
If you are having trouble with being a little bitch than I suggest tweaking your grip and practicing on the most aggressively knurled bar you can find or is used in your federation e.g. Eleiko Power Bar variants for IPF affiliated lifters or deadlift bars for other feds (note deadlift bars are thinner so the bar will sit differently in your hand and this needs to be practiced). The aggressive knurling will serve as a training tool, leaving little room for error and you’ll know when you’ve gripped the bar right cos your hands aren’t ripped open.
