Sumo?
DOMS UPDATE
Post 20k deadlift challenge DOMS isn’t too bad the morning after. Most sore muscle is my hamstrings but that’s like a 4/10 on badness. Everything else on the back half of my body is kinda tight.
EDIT: add glutes to the list
Erectors not so bad. Maybe cos my back didn’t round out too much. My worse DOMS are from form breakdown with volume (might be a mini strain sometimes lol)
It’s early goings because I know sometimes my doms is really delayed and kicks in after two days.
NEW LOW WEIGH IN: 179.1 lbs / 81.4 kg
Was planning to keep cutting another 5-8kg but I really want to get in a massing phase… hmm
Pinky do 20k lb challenge first. I reckon you’d rank highly cos you have a decent 1RM max
Do you get a happy ending tho?
With the Thera gun so it’s like being punched in the crotch a thousand times
I dont lift conventional. Not going to switch because some guy has a complex.

Thanks for the tag, I’m so honored lol. Unfortunately I don’t have any good ques for bench. I do like others have said above and set my feet first, set my arch, and then wiggle my back around on the bench til my scaps are nice and retracted. That’s about all I got.
Question: any of y’all have any tips on switching to hook grip? I wanna move away from mixed because I can’t keep my arm straight and don’t want to tear a bicep unnecessarily, but I’m ass at hook grip the couple times I tried it. Guess I got small hands or something
Wrap thumb. Wrap index and rude finger. Wrap other fingers. Tug bar to check that grip is secure and sitting where there’s nothing getting crushed or shredded = pain. Then pull.
You might not be built to pull hook but I doubt it because you are humongous. You can’t really suck at hook grip you either got it or you don’t. You either hook properly and are good for holding onto 300kg or you aren’t doing it right.
Why/what happened?
here’s a post in MarkKO’s log from Clint Darden
Edit: Click on it and it’ll expand into the video
Very useful! I’ll give it a try today, thanks. Do y’all tape your thumbs?
I don’t hook haha
You pull sumo and don’t hook? Do you even eat butt?
Haha aaaaand I’m actually back to pulling conventional…so…no butt for me
Nope. Never needed to. I use straps for reps so thumbs never really take beating
Chalk up the whole thumb back and front. Wrap the thumb under the bar then grab with the other fingers. My thumb is 3" if you have a short thumb it’ll be harder. Use it often and it’ll go numb pretty quick. But I sometimes have pain from the bass getting pulled away from a set a few days prior I’ll use straps that day.
Hook is pretty straightforward once you get the bar sitting in the right spot. Play around with the hook grip a bit until it works. Plenty of small weightlifters hook with only their forefinger wrapped and it does the job. There’s about a dozen hook grip vids on YouTube from Starting Strength to Dr.Deadlift himself but IMO that’s a bit overkill.
I got athletic tape and a knife in a box for wrapping my thumbs and rough up the nail but I’ve had little need for either TBH.
Update
DOMS from the deadlift challenge is mostly in the hamstrings now. Hopefully I’ll be fresh enough to hit some heavy singles for a deload by Friday instead of not deadlifting at all.
Upper back soreness has gone away enough to do some chin ups and shoulder raises at home
