GuineaPig’s Training Log - Hunt 300 Deadlift

Feels like the first month of the year is almost done and I’ve done fuck all lol

Warm day at Iron Revolution but compared to the spit roasting session last workout I’ll take it.

Ate all the things going into the workout (Dumplings, ribs, mash potato and waffles) so hopefully the belt fits aight.

Squat
125kg x 2,9,9,9,12 Rep PRs

Bit warmer than I thought it’d be going in so am even less looking forward to the squat volume on the menu.

Plan was for 4 sets of 9 today at 125kg. Started off miscounting the weight/plates and hit 2 reps warm up with the working weight lol.

Wouldn’t trust my counting abilities so I may or may not have miscounted and done 7 or something. Form went to shit but 9 reps felt pretty easy like I could’ve kept bouncing away to 11 or 12 reps. Strong cardio out of breath gains though lol.

umm bit awkward but disregard the above except for the last set I had 122.5kg loaded unevenly instead of 125kg for whole three first sets… fuck Ima just leave the log as is.

Nvm 12 reps last set plus/minus miscounting to make up for it.

Felt pretty good with the rep work other than misloading lol. Have I unlocked the ability to do reps? It’s terrible but I just tell myself to go for 6or something and once I’m there to just keep dropping and bouncing one rep at a time.

Pause Bench
85kg x 6,6,6,6,6,6,6

Lots of sets of shitty feeling iffy pauses benching for a volume PR. Nothing special here just more work

Sumo Deadlift
195kg x 4,4,4 Rep PR

Felt a bit slow off the floor today but whatevs. Sandbag Rep PR is best PR. I think the slowing down in bar speed will really help me cos like last time I maxed I hadn’t pulled more than 170 in training so the slow down in bar speed caught me off guard. Also back bracing but I think that’s come up too.

Conventional Deadlift
170kg x 7,4,4,3 Rep PR

Same deal as last time. 1 PR set (may have miscounted… was either 7 or 8 lol) and then get a volume PR (17 reps @170kg) with more sets ending when back starts rounding out.

Weighted Dips
BW+20kg x 8,8,8,8
Haven’t done these in a while cos I always skip accessories lol.

Bit of rump steak for dinner tonight so will smash some of that and limit carbs and snacking and hopefully wake up with a new low weigh in tomoz.

What you weighing in at atm?

A hair over 82kg. Will see what happens (means I’ll probably end up crash dieting) but am looking to slowly work my way down to mid 70s

Think carefully about how you plan your diet (I’m sure you actually will) because when strength matters to you its very easy for things to go very wrong.

Storytime:
Start crash diet - weight goes down very fast - Feel happy
Crash diet starts ruining workout because not enough calories, strength decreases - Feel sad, stick with it.
Low weights makes you feel weak, haven’t hit Rep PR in a few weeks - Feel sadder
Start convincing self that diet is stupid because you want to be strong, maybe you stick with it though.
Still losing weight, slower, but looking flat because you are so depleted, so not actually looking any better.
The Convergence - Mid diet you look a bit shitter because you are flat and depleted, feel a lot shitter because diet, and getting weaker.
Stupid diet, convince yourself that diet is bad for your goals, because you are a powerlifter, and strength is everything. You want to be Yuri Belkin, not Shyzz. Give up diet, and spend a few weeks eating KFC and getting your strength back.

You put all the weight back on, and your lifts get back to basically where they were. Lots of time wasted, lots of suffering and no progress, goals not achieved.

Long story short, you need to diet at a pace that lets you keep your strength, or even increase it.

Was actually just writing down cool story bro when you posted that lol

5kgs in and so far so good cos I’m stronger than when I started. The first few kilos don’t affect strength much I think. It might be the next few. If my strength takes a major hit I’ll reevaluate then

Thanks for the story bro

Have you competed RAW af as a fat fuck SHW?

Here’s a story. The heavens split open and amidst the offensively loud and tasteless sounds of EDM Zyzz descends striking his signature pose and with the words “We are all gonna make it,” bestows upon GuineaPig the gift of aesthetics and the secret to getting shredded as fuaaaark. All who looked upon this miracle were mirin. The end.

In reality GuineaPig was actually hallucinating in a sauna, ODed on anything and everything with enough veterinary grade gear (for guinea pig grow issues) to kill a cow.

Moral of the story is don’t tell stories.

600lbs = 272kg. May as well go for Powerlifting Australia (the federation) records while I’m at it (think it’s around 280-290ish. Few years easy.

EDIT Nvm PA is dead due to IPF ban. On the plus side that means the new fed The Australian Powerlifting Union has blank records (I think). Time to set a 20kg record for every lift and 60kg total.
