Has it been that long jeezus
No idea, could have been longer
PTC HQ / Frankston is quite a ways away. You’ve competed there before tru?
I’m an old guinea pig now.
Nope mate both comps I signed up for got covid canceled. I can move my entry to any of those dates next year. Probably won’t do one till mid year.
Do they evolve? Into tea cup pigs or even regular pigs or something?
I’m not sure. So far seems like they just get bigger and stronger over time. Also accumulate a few injuries. The older pig uses his gains to attract females. Thus completes the circle of life.
I wish I was part of one of the species where this happens.
Different strategies for different species brother. You just need to find it. Maybe environment, maybe patience mayb luck.
I got pretty lucky recently. I was lifting at Melbourne Strength Culture (powerlifting gym) about a month ago and one of the women there hit me up after. I asked her to film my set during and send me. Wasn’t trying to make anything happen but it got the DMs going.
That’s smooth bro. I think luck is my angle too man. I’m a famously unlucky bastard though. Maybe need to find a different angle.
A wise man probably once said u make ur own luck. I have idea how that helps you out but it sounds cool
Let us know and we can come support if u like. I’m in Melbourne ‘s south east pretty often nowadays
So you asked a lady to film you lifting with her OWN PHONE. Pretty bold, mate.
Were me or @Koestrizer to attempt such a thing, we’d likely rip a hole in our shorts and cut a giant fart while failing to squat out of a deep hole.
Do you wear sexy lifting tights like piggy though?
I usually wear short tights underneath a pair of regular shorts, but I see where you are going with this.
Also don’t forget the pepper spray… Ah that sweet familiar burn
Is a powerlifting gym so pretty common practice to film and my phone won’t let film while also blasting hype tunes. So perfectly legitimate and innocent intentions.
Look good lift good is my motto. No scientific research to back that up. Broscience > science science anyways
Redemption single on DL at 276kg (cheeky 1kg PB with change plates). Last week my hook grip slipped (see previous post) so was a lil nervous this week but I held on alright.
Singles are in for DLs this block for the first time ever pretty much. I’ve been doing a lot of Rep work which is good for building strength but the specific skill of 1RMs is very different. I am not skilled at 1RMs on DLs (yet) so I confident there’ll be technique / specific skill gains there. We a nearing the 300kg milestone now. Might be there by the first comp. Might not. No worries. It’s only a matter of time.
Injuries/Niggles
Hopefully useful ramblings
At the moment I got shoulder, elbow, lower back and knee niggles to some degree. I think it’s pretty common with lifting when we train hard that this or that structure gets a little cranky when it’s load tolerance is exceeded.
My shoulder has been an issue for about 2 months. At it’s worst flat/comp benching just the bar caused immense pain at the front of the shoulder especially in the bottom of the range of motion, felt like tearing apart.
Fortunately there’s almost always a way to keep moving, to train around a niggle, still be productive and progress.
I some help from some great physios with my shoulder. We moved away from flat benching and hit the overhead and incline pressing (didn’t bother the shoulder) harder to build muscle and strength involved in pressing. In the mean time we fixed technique and built back up slowly, allowing for an acceptable threshold of shoulder irritation.
Now here we are: The shoulder is pretty good. Can comp bench hard and do most everything else. Deep DB presses are still a little irritating.
