Shoulder is getting there. Still a little something something off but can train productively. Comp hopefully in Jan.

What Fed ?

Well not PA now that there’s been a mass exodus (not that PA was high on the priority list anyways). Whatever pops up in Jan doesn’t matter what fed: WRPF, GPC, CAPO or APL (heard good things about APL as an up and coming fed)

or APU?

Hey all,

Hope you guys have been going aight.

Life wise I’ve been pretty good. Busy tho. Working a lot as a teacher. Close to finishing off the school year now. Dating a bit because the muscles get the girls apparently lol. COVID restrictions have eased off so going to get more people around the powerlifting club garage we got happening as well as go see people.

Training going pretty well also (coached by Melbourne Strength Culture). My shoulder is just about ready to go and push bench again. Got singles at RPE 8 on squat and deadlift this training block so going to end up hitting some new 1RMs/PRs.

I think its a good time to get active on here again and catch up all my online mates. Feel free to let me know how you’ve been in life and in lifting!

*COMPETITION: it’s been a long time coming but I’ll look to do my first powerlifting meet early next year. Jan or Feb. The first one I see I’ll snap up as there’s not too many around where I’m at.

I’ll be around on here but chuck us a follow on IG if you want

I’ll chuck some vids up later but I guess I’ll start off with these two things from this week’s training:

1. Bench PR 125kg / 275 x 4. These are rather rare for me. Ain’t much but it’s honest work.

My shoulder has been injured for a while now but it’s finally clearing up. In the mean time I’ve worked around it, maintaining muscle and improved my technique A LOT (if I do say so myself humblebrah). I feel positive moving forward once the shoulder clears and we can step on the gas again that there will be progress.

2. Hook Grip Explosions
I pull hook and almost all the time it’s very secure. Had it slip on me this weekend with 275kg /600ish on the bar which was pretty funny. Luckily I didn’t fly back and end up with a deadlift jack up my butt. Might’ve been a freak accident. The grip felt secure enough off the floor and didn’t feel like it was progressively slipping. It just “went catch u later” all of a sudden

Pig Thoughts:

I probably won’t put up every sesh/lift. Mayb the significant ones or the ones that have some thoughts attached.

Yesterday I had a “bad” sesh. Top single at 230kg was pretty shitty and back offs were worse. Fatigued from training and not done amazingly with catching up with sleep over the weekend I think.

I find it tough in the moment to be motivated to work when things aren’t feeling/moving the well. There’s something to be said for just putting in the work on average but it’s something I continue to struggle with.

Probably wasn’t the day for it in the end because I tweaked/strained my back it seems on squats and didn’t end up doing the Deadlift 3x6 that was prescribed. I’ll probably be ok but we’ll see how we go over the next few days.

How’s your training set up these days, still running your own stuff?

Thanks mate. How have you been going in life and lifting?

I’m coached with Melbourne Strength Culture. Have been for just under a year now. Powerlifting focus. Been fairly consistent at 3x week bench, 2x a week squat and deadlift. I think having an objective take on training, accountability and advice/support from more experienced people is the big benefit (as opposed to some magic program tho the programming is individualised).

I felt 12 muscles in my ass snapping in sympathy just watching that video. Dang.

Nice to see you around Pigman.

Good to be back brother.

It’s no biggie. I’ve pulled it before. As long as hook grip slip doesn’t become a common thing

Been a long time coming but first meet should be one of these (the early ones). TBD exactly which:
