What I’d really like is a back attack / good morning machine but they are pretty rare. Would be cool to hit the hinge pattern though.
I’ve never heard of such a contraption in my life.
I’d personally love a chest-supported row machine.
Been looking thru Marketplace for Melbourne and there’s some stuff but I think I’ll hold off a while longer.
DB rows grabbing onto the handles of my back raise is about the same
I just use my landmine to mimic DB rows
Little different but close enough. U still been hitting belt squats?
This is making we want to get a home gym.
Yeah, I wish I could do some kind of chest-supported row or something though. Or maybe trying to get a T bar handle. I hate regular barbell rows.
The belt squats, yes. And now I’ve some blocks to increase my ROM a bit, which is good
Maybe worth maybe not for you if you got access to a decent gym. I’ve been building my stuff up during lockdown because I don’t mind taking the hit in $$$ to keep lifting because its part of my routine that helps me live my best life overall. A friend of mine was building up his own home gym so we put our equipment and monies together to get the nice stuff I train with rn. At this point there’s not much more I want and it would all be big stuff like leg press or hack squat and not sure i wanna go all in for something like that.
Always fun to spend money on things but for a decent home gym the $$$ adds up quick. If you usually travel quite a bit to the gym it’s time saved and over time u would be saving on a gym membership but still works out to “paying it off” in 20 years or someshit.
Towel T bar rows lel
Some people couldn’t give up the social aspect of the gym. But for people like me who keep to themselves anyway, it’s wonderful to not have to commute or share equipment. And unless you’re a member at a super cheap gym, it pays itself off fairly quickly. Unfortunately it’s difficult to set up a rack and plates now with COVID still looming.
Though I must admit I do miss having access to dumbbells, a GHR, and a chest-supported row.
I’m about even on the social things. I get in good sessions alone but it’s nice to hang with mates. A gym environment that pushes u is valuable. Right now I’m training garage gym but with a few of the biggest strongest guys in town.
Yea, been hesitant because of the cost, I could afford quite a bit of stuff but getting 250kg of weight is still going to be expensive. Plus my gym is actually pretty decent and relatively cheap for Seattle ($60 a month) but a branch off this gym is $100 and has more cool stuff and stronger people. It seems nice to just be able to walk down to my garage during work (i’m remote for the foreseeable future) and get some sets in. Once I get into a place I buy (next few years hopefully) I’m definitely building one.
FWIW if things don’t work out u can re sell pretty well. Weight is weight so it’ll not drop in cost so much for being second third or fourth hand
Decent gym prices vary a lot. When I’m in the city I go to the powerlifting/strongman gym that has pretty much everything for those two disciplines. Is 20 AUD a week which is like 15 USD. More than worth
Good news: gyms opening up again in rural Victoria where I’m at. Didn’t even get a chance to try out the makeshift belt squat.
I’ll still be training at me mates garage for the most part but will be signing up with the local gym to support and drop by for some machine work and DB pressing etc. Got the powerlifting specific equipment at the garage and less risk of exposure to COVID.
Upper body today. Highlight was pushing the incline press with 91kg x reps PB. Just getting thiccer. Taking my time to build up to 100kg for reps.
Sucks that we missed out in Metro.
Would be nice to be in a proper rack again lol
Soon… maybe. Or maybe Christmas. At least u got the things. Maybe add some kit. Can always sell later because equipment doesn’t drop in price too much
Nvm 20 people limit at gyms and booking system. Not quite good to go because I like a little flexibility in training an hour or two later or even the next day depending on how ready/recovered I feel.
Will make do with belt squats etc. for now. Not long though
Completely different situation over here but we have something like 50% capacity (around 20 people) and a booking system, i can almost always book a slot a few hours before I want to go because I like to vary my lifting times too. Hopefully it works that way for y’all as well.
