Muggy day at Iron Revolution for some gains. Last meal was big and an hour from working out so felt a little bit bloated around the midsection but could just be my imagination
Squat
150kg x 3,3,3,3,3
Feeling beat up on squats so dropped the weight to 150kg and reps to the lowest end of the rep range. Reps felt better as time went on.
Hmm was thinking today that I feel kinda better dive bombing reps.
Front Squat
100kg x 4,4,4,4
Front Squats feeling alright so more reps and sets. They are smashing and bruising my clavicles and throat more than anything but my mama ain’t raised no bitch. Lifetime rep PR at two cookies is 6 I think… or was it 7. I remember my 1RM was 115kg though. No rush just gains and that’s a good thing because back squat is feeling pretty shitty recently.
Bench
85kg x 11,8,7,8 Rep PR
Bench set up felt good today… for the first few reps lol
Meant to do volume but decided to go ahead with 8s and rep it out and if there was a rep PR there would go for it.
And there was a Rep PR there today at an RPE 10 in all its uneven lock out Guinea Pig life flashing before my eyes glory. No film though so you’ll just have to take my word for it.
Bit awkward cos 11 reps doesn’t go in my rep PR recorder (max of 10 reps) so time to increase the weight next workout. Finished off with some more reps for a volume PR too.
OHP
40kg x 9,9,9,9
Not so casual anymore on the OHP with the last few reps slowing down with less than 30 sec rest between sets (enough time to hit a warm up stretch for deadlifts).
Sumo Deadlift
190kg x 6,4,4,4 Rep PR
Working up the weight felt heavy af so wasn’t anticipating a good top set at all but once the straps were on 190kg moved well for a Rep PR. Phone ran out of batteries long before this so no top set.
Also why are straps so much easier than mixed or hook grip? I remember someone saying that it’s almost like an assistance movement for your comp deadlift.
Anyways pulls felt better as it went so ended doing some 4s after. May or may not move up to 195kgs next session… maybe.
No time for more bullshit so I’m done there.
