Gyms opened up again so stopped by McQuinns gym to smash a sesh. Ended up kinda being a misfire of a session lol.
Because everything was slippery. Like super slippery. Like every surface from the deadlift platforms to rubber flooring was slippery as fuck. Now keep in mind I was wearing the grippiest slippers I’ve ever owned and I was still sliding all the over the place like socks on buffed wood.
So my sumo stance ended up being a bit closer than slipping to wherever it wanted. So that threw me off a bit. Was worried one foot would slip out and my groin would explode. Anyways did some work but could’ve had a much better sesh considering weights were moving alright.
Enjoyed some DB press and GHR/Hammi Curls afterwards but intensity wasn’t really there after fucking about on deads. Not nearly as detrained as I thought I’d be on DBs so looking forward to pushing them up to 50kg again and beyond.
Gonna take this next few months to become thiccer than ever and try not to neglect my show muscles either lel. Not even my calves *gasp tho I know too sure I want em bigger tbh.
So plan going forward is to lift all over the place: at home, my mates home gym in Bendigo, Iron Revolution and McQuinns wherever is convenient and can cater to my equipment needs.
Going to do what work I can at the home gyms and use the extra equipment like machines, DBs and calibrated plates at IR and McQuinns. Sheiko Gold is flexible which works out alright.
Bumpers and rubber coated. Does the job but the rubber coated ones are pretty suss: missing the inner metal ring and chunks of rubber out of the inside because of that lack of protection.
There’s like half a dozen standard 25kg plates in the gym so I could load up plenty of meme deadlifts and have a workable set up with all standard plates.
When I’m in Bendigo and want to work on calibrated plates I’ll train at my mates home gym though it lacks equipment variety or train at Iron Revolution on the way thru to or back from Bendigo
Meat. Which “Adam MB” desbribes on a travellors site in the following way:
Cuy — as it’s known to the locals — tastes a little bit like duck; almost a grey meat, it’s very rich and very oily. You can have it deep-fried like this bad boy here, made as fillets, or even a stew. Just beware of a curse I truly believe in… it’s know as Guinea Pigs’ revenge!
I removed the picture to not traumatize anyone who has these animals as domestic pets, lol. Doesn’t look super appetizing to be honest but when in Peru, I would go for it.
I messed up all the jokes by calling it sticky. It was supposed to be slippery. Like “haha, Hamster, did you get too excited by your reflection”, etc. Sorry, everyone, I let you down.
Change of plans. Professional experience/placement is looking to have me in regional Victoria for 4/7 days of the week so probably look at staying up in Bendigo full time.
Likely sign up at McQuinns again. May not deadlift there for a while until they become less slippery lel
Might lug much of my home gym up and spread it between McQuinns and my mates home gym.
